to sell the item I just got off freecycle?

I use freecycle a lot. I offer things I dont need/use any more and I accept things that I would find useful. Probably offer as much as I accept.

Today I collected an item that I asked for as it would be handy for me and I will use it.
I just collected it and its in much better condition than I expected, with extras too.

I am very strapped for cash at the moment (arent we all?) and I am selling off as much of our stuff as will make money on ebay and here to try and make a few extra pennies.

If I dont sell it, I will use it and it will be useful but I dont need it and thats the criteria that I am selling off my own stuff on...so....

AIBU to sell on this freecycle item? Could make me about £30...

Ok, if the spirit of the thing is to keep stuff out of landfil. People who use tend to give back, to a greater or lesser extent.
However, once something is in your possession its yours. Ok, feel a bit bad about it, and once the wolf is backing away from your door be a bit more generous to the freecycling community.
YANBU because you acted in good faith when you accepted the items.

duchesse · 25/11/2008 14:41

I think it is against the spirit of Freecycle. I think you should consider how much you have saved by freecycling over the years, and re-freecycle this item gladly.

Hiya folks,

IS ANYONE AND I MEAN ANYONE LOL interested in lo's pram, When i bought it it was a great idea as I was local to school and walked a lot but we moved and dp drives me to and from school daily so the travel system is redundant after 13 weeks. It cost £360 with car seat and I am looking for £200 ono, or part exchange lolol c'mon girls help a LES out, dp getting annoyed with me showing him all these wonderful prams I am in love with. ALSO have lots of cloth nappies up for sale at cheap cheap prices. and 3 bags of clothes ds2 has grown out of ffp. I know dal wants some so what i will do is take pics of them all put them on picture trail and you can all have ya pick lol.

Hiya All,

I have got my pram already its this one....

www.graco.co.uk/quattrodeluxes.htm

this one?

see I think all this 'needing' stuff you ask for is a bit over-moralistic...I don't think you would have 'needed' several buggies. Or am I missing something here?

Chablis · 25/11/2008 15:22

Perhaps TheLE is concerned that others will get to need the items before her?

Chablis · 25/11/2008 15:28

Oh yes, TheLE sounds very 'in need'...

By Theladyevenstar on Tue 04-Nov-08 13:21:23
Dal, I have had a chat with dp about xmas and I have told (not asked lol) him that we are only spending £50 on dss, ds1 and ds2..only prob is what do you get a 15yr old for £50, what do you get a 10yr old who has had everything he could want and what do i get the Zachmeister who i keep getting things off of freecycle lol including a hugeeeeee box of vtech toys?

People in glass houses.....

Doobydoo · 25/11/2008 15:35

Haven't read all thread, but I agree with goingfor3.I use freecycle in Ireland. We are broke[dp made redundant 2 months ago]I would be annoyed if someone sold something they had received it is not in the spirit of freecycle

NCbirdy · 25/11/2008 15:44

Doodydoo, you should it gets really interesting

AnarchyAunt · 25/11/2008 16:27

Pfffffffffhahahahaaaaa.

I can't even be bothered to be annoyed at this any more.

wotulookinat · 25/11/2008 16:38

It's refreshing that people have such strog opinions, even if they aren't the same.

Chablis · 25/11/2008 17:03

Yes - it's interesting, isn't it?

If you look 'beyond' the actual specific detail of this example, you can see that what is winding everyone up is other people's assumptions and personal beliefs.

This is a classic example of a MN threda where someone effectively posts, "I think this, therefore everyone else MUST be wrong..."

I think it was theLE's high-handed approach which really kicked things off though!

Flightattendant4 · 25/11/2008 18:08

I just have to say that I don't really have strong opinions, just PMT

Got far too involved in this today. oh and I am right btw

NCbirdy · 25/11/2008 19:08

Me too

wotulookinat · 25/11/2008 20:02

I disagree hee hee
But let's all agree to disagree!

islandofsodor · 25/11/2008 20:12

It would be against the rules on our Freecycle to do this and members have been banned for selling things on ebay that they got off freecycle.

wotulookinat · 25/11/2008 20:16

(Don't mention the rules - you'll start everyone off again)

myaffkin · 25/11/2008 20:24

Just sell it. If the money is more use to you than the item, I think it's best in the circumstances to sell it. I can't believe some of the holier-than-thou comments.

TheLadyEvenstar · 25/11/2008 20:29

Flight the pram I was selling was the Graco we bought that i totally hated tbh. It was too heavy for me and when we moved I used it less and less as we drove everywhere. I have since bought a lot of buggies. And have sold 1 other than the graco which i sold as new with the reciept for ~£100 to a woman in leeds who i know off the internet and we also delivered it there....want her email?

Chablis, and if you look again as you are all so eager to go and search for posts by myself you will see i have actually bought ds2 only a few things, as he has got the vtech toys and at 14m he doesn't really understand anyway.

Flightattendant4 · 25/11/2008 20:43

sorry tle. I can't talk anyway, have had about 50 prams...

ScottishMummy · 25/11/2008 20:56

Jesus h christ 50prams?how many children?did you get treatment?are you over it now

Flightattendant4 · 25/11/2008 20:57

i hav now freecycled them all

honest

ScottishMummy · 25/11/2008 21:04

have to ask, what was the best-and why

lil · 25/11/2008 21:09

YANBU agree with morning, its all about recycling hence the name - its not there just for poor people, where the hell did that come from???

Flightattendant4 · 25/11/2008 21:12

Oh without a doubt the Mountain Buggy Elite.

Just perfect in nearly every way...not rear facing, that's about the only bad thing about it.

TheLadyEvenstar · 25/11/2008 21:35

Flight thats why I like my emmaljunga as it is rear facing BUT downside is it is so big. I love my micralite as it is compact and I can get the all terrain kit for it,
I hate the bruin ew ew ew and the aria has to go as DP has said if i keep them all and all the nappies I am being locked in the cellar.

As for the Graco it was the worst pram/pushchair ever! I hated it

FiteFuaite · 25/11/2008 21:58

( Sneaks in to say Doobydoo, check out Jumbletown, waaaay better than FC)

Carry on, t'rest of you, nothing to see here
