to think that DB and SIL are stingy

DB has a very well paid job, nearly double what DH and I are earning combined.

He has just got married and SIL is a bot of a control freak and pretty much holds the purse strings. When they were buying a house, SIL suggested that he asked his mother to pay a large part of it which she did.

Their wedding reception alone costs £17000. Now because of traditions, my father invited most of the guests though DB had only invited about 1/4 of them on his list. Father paid for his guests and suggested DB pays for his invited guests. Nope, he didn't. Mum paid for it! My father is only earning about a third of what DB is earning and probably a lot less than myself.

Their wedding list consisted of gifts which started from £50 upwards including a candle holder. Who needs a £50 candle holder ffs?!

DD's birthday was two weeks ago, no present.

Dad needs a new car as the last one is kaput. Also his birthday soon, relations have suggested that we all contribute something towards a new car. We're not talking about top of the range stuff, he's only ever had 10th handed cars in his life to get from A to B. When DB was approached, his response was "SIL will find out". WTF?! Just say that you won't contribute a single penny you stingy fool!
