To think my child shouldn't come back from a playdate covered in mud and pooh?

I have name changed for this as it's awkward. I dropped my dd and ds off at a friends house today for a playdate along with some with Bob the Builder DVD's and games for them to play. It would seem that rather than stick the agreed schedule my friend involved them in 'games' consisting of shovelling horse pooh and washing some of the filthiest dogs you can imagine. According to ds she also had made a list of things for them to find in the garden which included worms and bees and dd presented me with her lunchbox containing bugs when I arrived! Obviously that lunchbox is now in the bin. Both children were covered in mud and something which smells like horse/cow manure and I have spent the last hour trying to untangle dd's hair.

Considering the amount of germs which lie in manure and on dogs AIBU to be annoyed?

Presumably this is a joke?

AnarchyAunt · 21/11/2008 17:54

YABU.

Sounds like they had a great afternoon and learnt a lot. Presumably you knew where they lived etc - why not send him in waterproofs and wellies?

pagwatch · 21/11/2008 17:54

It may just be me but I would be delighted that my child had had such a fun fab day without my having to go outside.

Trafficcone · 21/11/2008 17:54

You're a prize pratt. You WANTED your child to sit square eyed and watch a DVD rather than have fun in the mud collecting bugs? My lot would LOVED to have gone to that friends and washed dogs and played in the mud. A bit of dung never harmed anyone and throwing the lunchbox away is pure melodrama!!

dinny · 21/11/2008 17:54

ha ha hilarious

sounds like they had a fab afternoon, better than boring DVDs

sounds like a fabulous day - please tell me where you friend lives so I can send my kids to a playdate there.

Fiveplusbump · 21/11/2008 17:56

You crazy loon ,even I am jealous of his playdate I would love an afternoon like that.

ingles2 · 21/11/2008 17:56

hahahahhahahahaha
better not come round to mine then

nametaken · 21/11/2008 17:57

just bath em for gods sake and stick the clothes in the machine.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 21/11/2008 17:57

Why is it awkward? I don't understand. You haven't revealed some horrifying personal habit, or asked for help about an intimate relationship problem. Your children have had a fabulous time experiencing activities that they would not normally do, outside in the fresh air.

I hope this is Rhuby pulling our legs.

colacubes · 21/11/2008 17:57

Sounds bloody marvellous, I had a friend who lived on a farm and we got up to all sorts was loads of fun. Lighten up, YABU

TheFallenMadonna · 21/11/2008 17:57

I was rather embarassed at sending a child home once covered in both plaster (from one of those dinosaur bone excavation kits things) and spaghetti sauce. I did give him an apron to wer but he just about bypassed it. He had fun though

lol. This is funny!
My Ds and his buddy spend a lot of their time at nursery school digging for worms.
DVD or digging in muck? No contest when you are a child, surely??

moopymoo · 21/11/2008 17:59

prob troll but this attitude really bugs me. ds has a friend, really nice boy , who will not go outside when he is here because his trainers will get muddy (we have large rural garden + fields + trees fro climbing) i offer him wellies but he will not wear them not cool. mother says oh no he doesnt like getting dirty. hes 10 fgs poor kid.

BriccoliSpoors · 21/11/2008 17:59

Oh, and it's POO!!! POOOOOOOO not pooh. Pooh is a bear of very little brain.

valleysprincess · 21/11/2008 18:01

Ok, i'm just asking. My child is allergic to bees also

thenewme · 21/11/2008 18:01

The dirtier my child is when I pick him up from playschool, the more stuck in and happy he has been imo.

Agreed schedule? You surely don't think you can dictate to that extent what another mother does when watching your children?

Being outside is better than DVDs any day.

thenewme · 21/11/2008 18:01

And there is nothing wrong with being covered in Winnie!

TheCrackFox · 21/11/2008 18:03

Perhaps you should wrap your DCs in cotton wool and cling film before letting them out of the house? Better to be safe than sorry.

nametaken · 21/11/2008 18:03

Did she also give them a bee hive to play with then?
