To think my child shouldn't come back from a playdate covered in mud and pooh?

I have name changed for this as it's awkward. I dropped my dd and ds off at a friends house today for a playdate along with some with Bob the Builder DVD's and games for them to play. It would seem that rather than stick the agreed schedule my friend involved them in 'games' consisting of shovelling horse pooh and washing some of the filthiest dogs you can imagine. According to ds she also had made a list of things for them to find in the garden which included worms and bees and dd presented me with her lunchbox containing bugs when I arrived! Obviously that lunchbox is now in the bin. Both children were covered in mud and something which smells like horse/cow manure and I have spent the last hour trying to untangle dd's hair.

Considering the amount of germs which lie in manure and on dogs AIBU to be annoyed?

i hope you threw all their clothes in the bin too, and you should seriously consider cutting all their hair off. i mean god knows what was in that shit. do you really want to be washing the shit out in your bath that you're then going to have a bath in another time???? feckin hell, you'll need to get a new bath..

mousemole · 21/11/2008 19:06

surely this is a joke ?

TrinityRhino · 21/11/2008 19:06

I can't believe that yoiu would have actually thrown the lunchbox in the bin

I just dont believe the whole thing

if it is true
then sheeesh woman get a grip

cazboldy · 21/11/2008 19:06

ha ha ha were they at my house

Bet they had loads more fun than they would have had in front of a tv!

cazboldy · 21/11/2008 19:08

oh and I do think you are being a bit unreasonable, but tbh if we are doing that I always advise people to bring old clothes/wellies or find them some when they get here......

I do think you are over - reacting about the bugs and germs though

fgs they are more likely to be ill if you keep them in a sterile environment

TrinityRhino · 21/11/2008 19:09

and an hour to untangle your childs air is ridiculous
it doesn't take me that and thats after not brushing it for weeks

silly woman

wotulookinat · 21/11/2008 19:12

My dogs need a bath. Would your kids like to come for a playdate?

mytetherisending · 21/11/2008 19:18

Troll! It has to be a wind up LOL. If not get a life! You are Kids enjoy getting dirty!

Bubble99 · 21/11/2008 19:19

Mud? Yes.

Poo? No.

VictorianSqualor · 21/11/2008 19:27

I was going to say YANBU as I hate winnie the pooh, but now I realise it's shite I think YABU for calling it 'pooh'.

noonki · 21/11/2008 19:28

lol vs

Goober · 21/11/2008 19:30

....and for God's sake, don't EVER let them have fun again! What was your friend thinking of? It is common knowledge that it is far better to sit in front of the TV than to get fresh air and an education.
Pah!

Yes - outrageous. I think you should report her to SS for inflicting unnecessary wholesomness on your children, especially in this day and age when such basic pursuites are so totally out of vogue.

well, for a start YABU to send poor sod on 'playdate' I thought this term had been put on the wanker express.

"I think you'd struggle to find a bee in the UK in November"

well wasps overwinter in old attics and places so don't you think you might find a few bees if you looked carefully under the bridge?

prettybutterfly · 21/11/2008 20:19

I think OP is American. They like play dates.

nooka · 21/11/2008 20:20

Agreed schedule? Bring along games? What sort of weird visit were you expecting? Children come to play they do whatever the host's children want to do surely? Isn't that the point? Sounds like the sort of activities my mum enjoys with visiting children, and boy do they enjoy it too! My dd's hair tangles with anything, I've found a detangler really helps, as did cutting it much shorter (she now has a bob, which looks mush better than her previously long hair, surprisingly she looks much more feminine).

hullygully · 21/11/2008 20:26

I think you're absolutely rights. People are far too cavalier about germs. A lot of horses carry an MRSA variant these days.

TinySocks · 21/11/2008 20:28

You must be a troll right?

If you are for real, then I think you should send your kids to that house more often, they will cherish those memories for a long time (much more that watching a DVD!!!)

Chirpygirl · 21/11/2008 20:30

I feel really sorry for the OP, that's disgusting, imagine letting children play with mud and manure
They might catch a nasty dose of educational fun.

Call SS at once and report your 'friend' for allowing this.

You weirdo.

thisisyesterday · 21/11/2008 20:35

yes YABU.
it sounds like they had a great time.

hmmm watching tv all afternoon or getting out and enjoying themselves??

weird thread

Spidermama · 21/11/2008 20:38

I love allowing prissy, overly clean kids with obsessive parents to have a really good old mucky play and do the things kids are supposed to do.

Imagine throwing away a lunchbox just because it had bugs in. Your friend was doing you a favour if you did but know it.

biscuitchucker · 21/11/2008 20:52

fun is dirt coloured
