What time does your post come? Ours doesn't come until about lunchtime. (I bet the neighbour would love a lie-in...)

lovelysongbirdfliesaway · 19/11/2008 15:25

postie comes about 8.
suppose i could just not answer the door but i feel mean.

UnquietDad · 19/11/2008 15:26

What, you're not up by 8?!

VinegarTits · 19/11/2008 15:28

'thing is, i feel mean as she is nice and the reason shes not there is because she is a dr working shifts in the hospital. '

Then YABU you numpty, you cant moan about your neighbour in one breath, then say nice things in the next LOL

Either put up and shut up, or dont answer the door

At least you get to lie in, she out working longs hours and dealing with sick folk

Its no huge effort to open the door and be handed a parcel, is it??

You can always go back to bed

lazy6 fecker

southeatsastras · 19/11/2008 15:29

i don't mind doing it for my neighbours but it bugs me when the postman leaves a card at their house and i'm stuck with some hulking great package that no-one collects

BitOfFun · 19/11/2008 15:41

Disconnecting the bell if you don't want to be disturbed is perfectly reasonable I think. I hate being woken up by it and it takes me ages to get back to sleep regardless of whether I answer the door or not. I always go back to bed if I get an opportunity, it is my right as a lazy fecker ( LOL @VT) and I don't see why I should explain to a neighbour why I don't want to be up to collect their bleeding parcels!

Apart from that, I'm quite a nice person

lovelysongbirdfliesaway · 19/11/2008 15:42

i usually get up at 830.

ok ok i think im going to fly off from aibu now.

OP posts:
lovelysongbirdfliesaway · 19/11/2008 15:43

8am reasonable. We used to get knocked up by the courier man at 6.55. Was never for us

I get most of the neighbours parcels. It means I know my postie and he quite often nips back later if he has a parcel for me and I am out.

MorningTownRide · 19/11/2008 15:43

Neeeeeiiiiiiiighbours.

Everbuddy needs gud Neeiiiiiiibours.

YABU - do something nice for someone and they might reciprocate

VinegarTits · 19/11/2008 15:49

lovelyLazysongbird, i was joking mate

nigglewiggle · 19/11/2008 15:50

Does she have a greenhouse / shed / anywhere else to put stuff. Most companies allow you to give instructions about where to leave the package if you are out. You could gently mention this to her the next time she collects a parcel. You lazy, numpty ....

VinegarTits · 19/11/2008 15:50

Honestly, i was joking, i didnt mean to offend you, i'm sorry

lovelysongbirdfliesaway · 19/11/2008 15:51

thats ok then

i was about to say, i might be alittle u
but you 2 are assholes.

OP posts:
VinegarTits · 19/11/2008 15:52

Yep thats me, i'm an asshole (love that word)

J2O · 19/11/2008 15:53

How old is lo?
the thing is if op has been up all night with newborn or teething baby then its not unreasonable to still be in bed at 8 if lo is sleeping, i wish i was!

Could you maybe ask postie to leave it in an outbuilding or take it to another neighbour sometimes?

J2O · 19/11/2008 15:54

also was going to say 'numpty' is usually intended affectionatly ime and i think vt was joking

J2O · 19/11/2008 15:55

oops need to keep up with thread

happystory · 19/11/2008 16:00

And bear in mind, songbird, if you disconnect your doorbell postie just might have something for you!!!

TrillianA · 19/11/2008 16:01

If DD hates the sounds of the bell you should (regardless of the neightbour's deliveries) look into getting a bell that makes a nicer noise. Presumably you do get people ringing the doorbell who you want to see as well as the unwanted postman.

Flier · 19/11/2008 16:06

songbird, I'd be annoyed if it was happening frequently, I mean, your neighbour is taking the P a bit, but she doesn't know when they'll be delivered.
I was getting p'd off with my neighbour around this time last year, delivery men were getting no reply from her door (still in bed at 10am) so would come to me instead, I didn't mind the odd time, but thsi went on for weeks

Guadalupe · 19/11/2008 16:34

Plenty of people are not up by 8am, it is quite early to answer the door to the postman if they are not parcels for you and it keeps happening.

We get up at 8.15 usually, plenty of time to get dressed, eat breakfast and step out of the door into school two mins away.

Most websites have delivery notices so she is probably saying please leave with neighbour, unless you say otherwise she won't know you mind.

stirfry · 19/11/2008 16:35

I don;t think you are being unreasonable, I would be the same too!

Guadalupe · 19/11/2008 16:35

Our post never comes before lunch which is more annoying as I always miss it. They usually leave my parcels at the local post office though.
