residential school trip - but capacity is only 2/3 of the class. No idea how many will actually want to go. If it is over-suscribed the names will be pulled out of a hat.

I have twins...so as far as I am concerned either they both go - or neither go. It woudl be completely unfair of one goes and the others doesn't.

Does this letter sound reasonable (I don't want it to sound like we want priority or anything).

Dear Teacher,
I am writing to clarify my desires regarding the XXX trip - and the selection process in the event of over-subscription. Whilst I fully support the need for a fair and unbiassed selection process such as pulling the names out of a hat I do not want to be in a position where only 1 of my twins is selected. I propose that if only 1 of my twins is selected by random that their place is allocated to another child.

Many thanks,

Mummy

Soudns crass doesn't it?

It is not one of their teachers BTW so I can't (easily) talk directly to teacher and I am not sure that I woudl want to talk about it in front of DTDs as I don't want to upset them. I was going to send it in a sealed envelope.

Nope sounds imminently reasonable to me.

Hassled · 18/11/2008 22:48

Sounds absolutely spot on to me. Can't quite get my head around the fact they have a trip with oonly 2/3 capacity of the class, but I guess that's a whole new thread. Your letter is fine.

Thing is 10% of the year group are twins so could get tricky from a management perspective for the school...

Sounds totally reasonable to me.

...although i wouldn't sign it 'mummy'

DoNotAsfinishedXmasshopping · 18/11/2008 22:51

Thing is they are doing 2 seperate trips (so do tehy go teh same week or different weeks; which relates to whether they are same class or not is a whole other thread) is another issue.

But if they did 3 trips then they would have to get 100% subscription to fill the places...there must be some that won't want/will not bae able to go so I guess they can only take 2 trips.

TBH I am getting ahead of myself with the actual arrangements.

I only mention it as DTD2 is less confident and I think she will need DTD1 with her (they will only be 8.6). BUT They are currently in seperate classes ATM (but trip is next academic year) which we quite like which will mean they would go seperately....

Besides I think it would be quite nice being argument free for 2 nights rather than having 1 child for 2 nights one week and the other the next week.
