To have said something a bit rude to my colleague

Went back to work last Monday and have clearly forgotten a little bit about etiquette and acceptable comments in the workplace. I walked out for lunch with a colleague and, as we stood chatting on the corner of a busy road, we both became aware of a horrible smell. We both ignored it for a few minutes until he said: "Oh, what's that smell?" To which I replied: "It wasn't me!" To which he said, rather embarrassed and very serious: "I didn't for a minute think it was!" Now cringing that I said that!! The old me never would have said that/acknowleged the smell but motherhood has clearly made me more relaxed about such issues.

LOL he needs to lighten up, don't worry about it.

I just didn't mean to be so familiar! Poor man looked mortified!

Your only hope now is to make some funny comment, soon, about how glad that you're out of the home at last as children are tactless little souls and how easy it is for mothers to forget social ettiquet when surrounded by them constantly!
