Well I probably am - but I have a cold & I don't care

Since August I have been ill for about 8 weeks off & on

Really quite poorly at one point.

I want to go away for the week after Christmas - but my MIL is coming (she announced it - didn't ask)

DH is ambivalent about it - doesn't really mind if his mum comes or not

So would IBU to book a week in the sunshine with DH & DD and ask MIL to come either the week before Christmas (or another week)

No YANBU - go for it. I would love to do the same but can't afford it.

We can't either (but have generous parents....well I mean I have)

Well if you "announce" to your MIL that you are going away on that week she won't have much choice will she?

KatyMac · 13/11/2008 14:48

I guess

I think I really do think it's unreasonable but I'm going to do it anyway

Not unreasonable at all. Go ahead & do it. You didn't invite her she just assumed she could turn up whenever. Maybe this will make her think about checking with you & your DH before she visits in future.

I was back at the GPs today & she suggested some winter sun (if I could afford it)

So I am going to borrow the money from my mum & dad (even if it takes all of next year to pay back) & bloody go

not unreasonable at all at all at all - you need it and she will have to understand!

Whoopie - MIL has said she can't come Boxing Day - I have been worrying about this for about 2 months
