Maybe he just takes his job as a delivery man very seriously and feels he needs to give it the personal touch.

I dont think yabu at all. But I suppose some of us are just anal about toilets...iykwim

cmotdibbler · 13/11/2008 20:53

So, those of you who wouldn't, when you have friends visiting, are they not allowed to use the loo either ?

Men do seem to be a bit oblivious to poo smells or marks - DH has a group of friends here once every other month, and I avoid the downstairs loo then, and make him clean it afterwards. The carpet marks are noticable

avaTsar · 13/11/2008 20:53

Ah well being pregnant is different.

Everyone knows pregnant women have to pee every 10 minutes. It's the rules

pickupthismess · 13/11/2008 20:55

sazzles I don't think people mind about women TBH. We all know we have bladders the size of peas. But men can last for hours so why do they always use our bloody houses?

Also, quite right onepiece we have air freshener and dettol wipes in our loo, he could have used either. But frankly he shouldn't have asked at all.

Plus, we've had builders in all summer and can't they just leave the loo seat down once??

onepieceoflollipop · 13/11/2008 20:56

Carpet marks!! as in on the actual carpet!

I really don't think that men are a bit oblivious. Many men (ime) do not behave in this disgusting way. Those that do are just lazy/arrogant imo.

expatinscotland · 13/11/2008 20:56

friends visiting is different from random deliveryman asking to use your bathroom.

if it's a bloke asking to use the loo you know it's so he can take a crap because if he only needed a whizz he'd find some bush.

so the answer's no.

pickupthismess · 13/11/2008 20:58

Quite right expat. Actually, I don't like letting guys in for reasons other than their toilet habits. In our house we have a long hall and they have to come right a good 15m into the house to use the loo. I feel quite uncomfortable because who knows who they are.

onepieceoflollipop · 13/11/2008 20:59

We had builders for nearly 6 weeks once, and they were here from 8am-6pm 6 days a week.

They all used the loo but I can honestly say that there was no disrespect shown, to me or the bathroom. Occasionally the window was left ajar - the only evidence that they had perhaps not just peed in the loo! Once or twice the seat was left up, but they did not spray anywhere. Shoes were removed in indoor/furnished areas.

Basically it comes down to respect. They were in my home doing a job. I respected them and it was reciprocated. I also left tea and coffee supplies. As I had a new baby on the odd day I was in they made me drinks.

None of them felt the need to mark their territory or be a bit oblivious by leaving waste products smeared around the toilet or its vicinity.

expatinscotland · 13/11/2008 21:01

if i ever had builders in for a long length of time i'd hire a portaloo.

yes, i am precious about my bathroom.

it is clean. i make sure of that. it's for visitors and ourselves and not random deliverymen or people i'm paying a bomb to do a job.

onepieceoflollipop · 13/11/2008 21:02

My sil hired a portaloo a year or so after we had had the work done. Wish I had thought of it, but we were lucky with our builders.

pickupthismess · 13/11/2008 21:03

expat, we had a portaloo but whenever I was out they clearly were using my loo.

expatinscotland · 13/11/2008 21:03

i'd have locked the doors, pick.

that's just disrespectful.

HomeintheSun · 13/11/2008 21:33

I don't understand this protectiveness over you toilets, it's a toilet they're asking to use not sleep in you bed.

seeker · 13/11/2008 21:37

As I said - it's working class poo. Scary stuff!

ScottishMummy · 13/11/2008 21:46

ScottishMummy · 13/11/2008 21:48

ScottishMummy · 13/11/2008 21:53

ScottishMummy · 13/11/2008 21:54

LucyJones · 13/11/2008 22:00

god it took 4 weeks for our kitchen fitters to do our kitchen, they used the loo, they didn;t make a mess. I'm starting to wonder what kind of people you employ that you would consider hiring a portaloo expat?!!

LucyJones · 13/11/2008 22:02

I'm with HomeintheSun

how can it be disrespectful to use your loo fgs!!!

do you let your men folk use it?!! maybe you have a portaloo at the bottom of your garden for them too

I'm sorry but lolol at this thread. It is a toilet not your best china

pickupthismess · 14/11/2008 10:01

Yes but who cleans it Lucy????

I had a portaloo because I had about 8-10 workman on site at any one time and when it went (when the builder decided it was needed elsewhere) I had 8-10 men going in and out in muddy shoes, leaving the seat up and generally scumming up my loo.
