... I've just been reading through some of the threads there for the first time ever and they made me giggle.

It's only MN for goodness sake - do people have to be so serious about it!

I know, I know, I don't understand... I have no close friends on MN and if I did I would find it vital to see if they were flouncing or not. Ok, you're right.

Anyway, that's just my opinion and I am no doubt being very unreasonable. But I just think people need to get a bit of a grip...

Whatever........

RagingHormone · 10/11/2008 12:37

I do agree but I tend to think the people who have a real go at someone when they're feeling vulnerable and asking a silly question on here need to get a grip and remember it's only MN, too.

PuppyMonkey · 10/11/2008 12:39

I wasn't having a go at anyone in particular actually, so don't know what you mean.

the whole point of flouncer's corner is that it is not serious

Okay, so some people may feel pretty serious when they are bidding farewell, but the very fact that they do it in flouncer's corner pays homage to the philosophy of MN.

Having said that, just because you are online doesn't mean you shouldn't have the same respect for others and reactions to others' behaviour as you do in real life...

If someone makes you feel shit, does it matter whether they do it to your face or via an online forum?

Goober · 10/11/2008 12:43

Maybe not, but if YOU were feeling low, thinking of leaving, and then you read this thread, it would feel like another dig.
I think the point with MN is to keep away from the topics which you don't agree on and ignore them rather than pointing them out like you have done here.

PuppyMonkey · 10/11/2008 12:46

Oh dear, I thought this thread would be more light-hearted than it's turning out, I'm sorry now for mentioning it.

I also think the chicken keeper's section is a very silly place too if that helps.

Totally agree with BTLT.

I've always thought that it's totally daft to say 'it's only a website, don't get upset'.

This would be a bit like saying to somebody who just found a sexy text to their husband from somebody else and got upset about it 'It's only a mobile phone'.

Surely it's not the medium that counts, but the content. If somebody has a go at you it makes no difference if they do it verbally, in a letter or online.

RagingHormone · 10/11/2008 12:54

Puppy- I didn't mean you were having a go.

I just meant people go there when they've said something silly and everyone's jumped on them and had a go at them and made them feel bad. It not worth getting het up about on either side.

AuraofDora · 10/11/2008 16:14

ah...so its a self fulfilling topic thready thingy?
they should go on style and beauty first and get the proper outfit de flounce and also organise buffet etc should their thread go on for a while
..pop corn just wont cut it here

post a snooty picture on profile,.. make it a flounce to remember

2shoes · 10/11/2008 16:19
