to want to tear down the Star Of The Week chart and jump up and down on it

Every girl in year 4 has been star of the week - some more than once.

Dd1 has not. I hate bloody star of the week anyway but this is making me so cross.

There are only 6 girls in Year 4 fgs. AND its all so trumped up eg 'Brenda is SOTW for trying hard' 'Mabel is SOTW for being a good friend' surely they can find something for dd1.

Sorry , rewarDS

she says children cannot be chosen because they are next on a list.... why not that would be much more fair

onthewarpath · 17/11/2008 11:23

totally agree

This sort of thing is OK if, and only if, its done fairly.

DDs school does a merit badge per form every week, the kids seem to get it a couple of times each a year. DD is proudly wearing it this week - for a variety of reasons she can't exactly remember, plus 'trying really hard in football'. Which is quite hilarious if you knew my DD, but nice because it meant the games teacher actually noticed that my unsporty child, who's never likely to make a team, was trying hard and she had bothered to tell the class teacher. And I think this will have a good motivational effect on DD.

eniddo, when i was at primary school, they introduced SOT(F)W when i was in year 3. when i got to year 6 i was one of the only one in the class who had never bee it, the other was a really annoying boy who never did what he was told. this didnt go unnoticed by the other kids and it really upset me! one day my mum went in and 'talked' to my teacher, (ok so there was a lot of shouting on my mums side! ) and the next week surprise suprise i was star of the week! i refused to accept it, souted at the teacher about it being politics then tore my name and picture down. the teacher told me off and gave me some form of punishment but my mum and dad were really proud of me, and took me out for ice cream!
my point is, if i were you i'd point it out to the teacher now, before it get to that point!

i feel like going in all guns blazing but i am afraid with this woman that will have no effect. She is also constantly harping on about healthy eating to the extent that kids are refusing treats. I was and am tempted to point out how unhealthy her suggested menu for the fun night is...... oh i can be very petty when needed. I am trying so hard to not be bothered by it BUT I AM
