.... sock monster?

Well am I? I've just done a sock-take (sorry) and discovered 25 yes 25 odd socks.

I mean, ffs, why does he feel the need to hold 25 of my family's socks to ransom. What the feck have done to upset him>?

Also, AIBU making dh and dses wear odd socks next week?

I have a big basket full of odds, DD and Dh wear odds as they cant be bothered anymore.

kinki · 09/11/2008 17:22

Good point. Oh yes, I remember wearing odd socks in the 80s, one luminous green and one luminous yellow. I traded with my best mate.

Ok, so we're looking for a 63 (that is impressive) legged monster wearing 3 shoes/trainers.

Oh yes, it is a very common problem. After many years of stockpiling odd socks, waiting for their partner to reappear, all my kids socks are now grey or black - same style, same length etc, so there is just a grey pile and a black pile and we have no problems ......Until they start to fade and then you begin trying to match them up by how much they've faded which is your cue to throw all the socks away and buy a new black pile and grey pile

AlistairSim · 09/11/2008 17:58

I get the whole sockmonster thing, I really do but I'm somewhat concerned about THW's shoe-eater.

Are you sure you don't have some weird one-legged stalker?
Perhaps he likes to sniff them before he wears them?

kinki · 09/11/2008 18:00

Oops, sorry sockmonster. No offence meant. Unless of course you are related to this entity that hides my family's socks.

I thought I would fool the Sock Monster so last year I got DS all black socks so that it wouldn't matter after a few washes they are all different shades of black Blardy clever that sock monster

LadyOfRObamaffle · 09/11/2008 18:58

I threw all the oddies, I now have 3 pairs. Need to do some shopping!

unknownrebelbang · 09/11/2008 18:59

Only 25?

He didn't do a very good job at your house, did he?

snigger · 09/11/2008 19:03

We should pool resources, he's probably left some of our 56 hostages at yours..

poppyknot · 09/11/2008 19:07

Could we maybe do an Odd Swap and create serendipitous pairings?

debzmb62 · 09/11/2008 19:14

seriously a freind of mine actually sew's all the pairs of socks together with a little thread everytime she puts them in the washing machine and refuses to put odd sock in "ALONE" and she irons socks to !
unless anyof you poster iron them to of course thats ok

snigger · 09/11/2008 19:17

Yes, poppyknot, I'll call your pink plaid ankle-sock, and call with a heather-toned paisley knee-high

kinki · 09/11/2008 19:26

Can't really match your heather-toned paisley knee-high, but could raise you red/black pirates of the caribean ankle (would suit an 8yo)

Debz, does your friend walk with really short steps?
