To be a bit fed up with MIL

DS1 was rushed to hospital the other week and ended up having an operation, we rang MIL and let her know he was there, we rang her the next day and said all had gone well but he would be in hospital for a few days, she sent a get well card, so far so good, however she has not once called in the last two weeks to see how he is, yes I know I could have called to update her but I have been snowed under, any way last night she phones to say that a friend of the family had died after a long illness (we already knew this as the ladies son had already called us with the sad news) and she did not even bother to ask after DS1 .

OK maybe I am just feeling very touchy at the moment ...but she could have ask!

That would annoy me too! But how old is MIL? Could she be getting a bit forgetful? Or is this typical?

Kimi · 07/11/2008 21:48

She is 67, and sharp as a tack

Oh well, then! No excuse! My MIL antagonises me no end but would definitely enquire after the ds's and visit them in hospital. And tell all the staff how to do their jobs!

oh kimi, is DS ok??

YANBU about your MIL, but maybe she just forgot. no excuse, but just maybe.....

Kimi · 07/11/2008 21:58

yes thank you psycomum5 he is great now back at school and had his check up yesterday.
He had his appendix out, and it bust as they took it out so it was a bit messy, but he was really good about the whole thing, very grown up for 12.

ouch!!!

well, hugs for that....I know how scary it is, even just for 'routine' stuff like appendix!

sounds scary.

He was so good, I was more upset.
He had been in a lot of pain and we rushed him in to the hospital, and they were really wonderful. Bit worried about infection as it burst but thankfully he is fine, Sad that he was recovering all half term week though .
He has three key hole cuts and a big cut too, bless him.
