This

My mum wants that for christmas and has asked me for it but I think it's tacky but I hate Playboy stuff. I know it's her choice and she's hardly old or nothing but I just think that's most suitable for a teenager or something.

I know I'm probably going to get flamed for this but I don't mean to come across so preachy. She is young looking and very young at heart but still...playboy...seriously?

Just got backl to this. LOL buggered off into town.

Zippi are you saying I'm a troll? I think I'd be saying alot worse if I was don't you? tis a warcry on here sometimes though isn't it

Well I went into town and found a lovely Hot Diamonds one, it's pricey but I think it's nice and the charms can be added every year even if it's just one like someone suggested thanks for the idea though

shopaholicDIVA · 07/11/2008 22:28

Hmm....surely a present should please the receiver, but the person giving the present should also be happy to give a present....

I know plenty of parents who won't buy certain toys for their children because of a personal issue they have with the item....and I don't think anyone would suggest to "just get it for them if they want it"....so, what is different when it's for an adult...

HusbandOfTheYear2008 · 08/11/2008 10:32

PLAYBOY ROCKS!
HEFF IS A GOD!
NAKED WOMEN RULE!

cheesesarnie · 08/11/2008 21:24

yes

stitch · 08/11/2008 21:40

for goodness sake.! when i clicked on the link, i thought it would be one of their horrible outfits, such as those worn by a mom in dc school playground by a woman who has had three '40th' birthday parties.. but instead, its a harmless charm bracelet.
mamdiva, its whatyour mom wants. let her have it.

tiredsville · 08/11/2008 21:50

Tack on toast I'm afraid, regardless of age.

shitehawk · 08/11/2008 21:51

Jeez, consign her to the knackers yard, whydoncha? 39 is not old! So the bracelet is not to everyone's taste - so what? It's what she wanted.

"Young at heart" ... they say that about those little old ladies who say "I'm 97, you know" every three minutes. It doesn't apply to someone who's not even 40 yet.

FairLadyRantALot · 09/11/2008 08:23

shithawk, don't think OP thinks her mother is old...she just thinks she is to old for such a bracelet

shitehawk · 09/11/2008 09:12

But why do we ever have to be "too old" for anything?

What you spring chickens fail to understand is that, although some of us are older than Metheusela, in our heads we are still 18. We still have the same mind, we still like the things which we used to like. It's only our bodies which belie our age, not our minds. If you like pink tat then you like pink tat - whatever your age and whatever those women who think you should be consigned to Bon Marche forever think.

We don't suddenly wake up one morning and think, "Oooh, I'm 40; must get me a winceyette dressing gown and some lovely comfy Footglove shoes" ...

mamadiva · 09/11/2008 11:34

shitehawk- As I've stated several times in this thread, I'm not saying that just because she is 39 she shouldn't be wearing it I'm saying that IMO it's aimed at young teenagers!

I don't think that my mum is old at all I never said that, I know my mum is young god shes not even twice my age

Anyway am not buying it have decided no chance am I buying that crap, it's wrongly marketted at young girls and I for one am not going to egg them on

OP posts:
FairLadyRantALot · 09/11/2008 12:28

shitehawk...I am 38 years old, hardly a spring chicken

But I think there is nothing worse then people completely dressing themselves inappropriately, etc....
I mean Hotpants are, for instance, fine on a younger person with the Body for it....but would look gruesome on a more "mature" Woman....no matter how great teh Body...well, imo, anyway....of course I am just green with envy, because I have a shit body, but that is neither here nor there....lol....

And, the OP has fundamentally a problem with Playboy stuff anyway, and to be honest I would not want to buy a present I think is fundamentally wrong ...no matter how much the recipient wants it....
