Mortgage has gone up, electric has gone up, 5 mouths to feed, 3 children to clothe etc etc and month after month is a bloody struggle. Am fed up with straping money together when my husband earns a good wage and we should be able to get by! I now need to search for a way of 'me' bringing in some money but with a young baby at home and 2 others at school i am at a loss as to how! Please give me some job ideas or ways to make money!!

NAO OMG!
the price is staggering
or maybe it shouldn't be too surprising, some places round here could fetch that, although prices have dropped a bit now.

paddingtonbear1 · 06/11/2008 22:39

WG, you do make some good points in your last post btw, but compared to a lot of countries, our govt is positively saintly!

morningpaper · 06/11/2008 22:45

Yes, your argument on the whole is not very persuasive: generally third-world dictatorships don't actually just raid their people's cash in order to build large millenium domes

Ronaldinhio · 06/11/2008 22:47

perhaps evil mumsnet could try building a millenium dome as headquarters?

morningpaper · 06/11/2008 22:48

an excellent plan

you are an evil genuis

Ronaldinhio · 06/11/2008 22:52

queston is...how big will the troll compound be??

stitch · 06/11/2008 22:54

to the op
yanbu

blueshoes · 06/11/2008 22:55

The Millennium Dome is now the wildly successful O2 Arena and entertainment venue. Don't be too quick to knock our white elephants!

winegoddess, FWIW, I agree that £65K does not go very far at all in London. It might support a modest mortgage but not private school fees on top, if you spend £2.5K on a holiday.

KatieDD · 06/11/2008 22:55

MRC we found the same I thought we'd be buying a country stack with the proceeds of our London house when we moved to the outskirts of Liverpool, gee was I in for a shock.
4 bed bungalow, in the next best suburb no change from half a million.

Suedonim · 06/11/2008 22:58

Would you like me to collate the best scams in Nigeria in order to finance the MN Dome?

angelswithdirtyfaces · 06/11/2008 23:01

Liffey

Are you stalking me?

winegoddess · 06/11/2008 23:04

Suedonim - brilliant plan, however, i have a more cunning and evil plan. Lets get the taxpayer to design and build an enormous structure at double the anticipated budget, then sell it off to a private company for a nominal sum and allow them to turn it into a highly successful and profitable venue and keep all the profits without reimbursing the taxpayer! Not that dissimilar to what we just did with the banks.

Wowwwww! Winegoddess you are so clever - I thought you would have been on motley fool or money saving supermarket tonight, not faffing around on MN!

Any further forward?

Columbo · 06/11/2008 23:07

I'm curious to know what the next best suburb of Liverpool is...

Is the best one Woolton?

I used to live there. Not Woolton of course. Aigburth. Is Aigburth the next best?

myredcardigan · 06/11/2008 23:07

Katie, the worse bit is that all our friends and family down south think houses up here cost 10k

paddingtonbear1 · 06/11/2008 23:10

if I understand right, some parts of Aigburth are nice and others not so.
Not sure which the best parts are anymore, I lived in some rougher ones... Norris Green anyone... people were great though!

I wish our house in the NW cost 10K!!

pointydog · 06/11/2008 23:11

what an utterly ridiculous op.

Ifthis is a genuine setiment, downsize. Ain't hard.

NotanOtterOHappyDay · 06/11/2008 23:11

a year ago but found this article about north / south property

myredcardigan · 06/11/2008 23:13

PB1, we're in Wilmslow BTW. Not as expensive as the next village though!

paddingtonbear1 · 06/11/2008 23:19

myredcardigan I work there
For a few months I worked in the next village. That was a bit of an eye opener!
we live 7 miles away

Columbo · 06/11/2008 23:19

Ah, Norris Green...formerly known as Brownsville.

KatieDD · 06/11/2008 23:22

Not Aigburth, we live near the sea which is all I am saying but yes everybody thinks our kids should be in private because the fees are a fiver a week up here, obviously petrol is a quid cheaper and we have 10 acres.
If only the buggers would get in their X5's and come and have a look for themselves eh ?

myredcardigan · 06/11/2008 23:24

Trying to think what is 7miles away. I'm guessing you're in Po (macc) or Br (stock). No need to confirm or deny btw

Columbo · 06/11/2008 23:25

Near the red squirrels? Lovely.

myredcardigan · 06/11/2008 23:26

Lol at X5s. I thought Surrey was full of them til we moved to Cheshire! Every other car here is an X5 driven by a blonde mum.
