To think that National Grid could do something about this speeding driver?

I heard a car barreling down my narrow resedential street at a very fast speed and looked out my window just in time to see it was a National Grid van. I would guess he was driving nearly 50 miles an hour. I rang National Grid to complain and gave them my address, post code and time of incident and they said that without a licence number they won't be able to do anything.

The man I spoke to on the phone couldn't have cared less. I told him with someone driving that fast there was no way that I could have gotten a licence number.

Surely they have a list of all drivers in the area at that time and could at least issue a warning to the drivers that were in my area at this time today?

I am very upset at the attitude of National Grid regarding their drivers speeding on a residential street and that they refuse to make any effort to do anything about it. No apology, just telling me there was nothing they could do about it.

I want to name and shame them.

Good for you-I'd have done exactly the same.Try sending them an e mail. It's too easy for some cretin answering the phone to fob you off.
Of course they know who's in the area at a given time-confront them with that in the e mail.
Too many people these days just sit back and do nothing-make a nuisance of yourself and good luck!Even if it only makes one driver think and slow down, that could save a child's life.

DH once saw a school minibus being driven dangerously and far too fast, and emailed the headteacher of the school to inform them

Royal Mail and BT drivers are the worst offenders in our area. Regularly doing 50mph on a 30 zone.
