she evokes golly gosh rah-rah lashings of ginger beer sentiments in me.aesthetically appalling

Pawslikepaddington · 03/11/2008 21:26

He he he, it's like a make up brush wrap/roll, but for various sizes of knitting needles, and fat quarters aren't actually fat (but should be in our house !) but 50cm by 50cm squares of fabric that were left over when they were cutting, so you get them for £2. Maybe only fat people buy them? Or they would only cover a quarter of said person? I.e. me xxx

Tidey · 03/11/2008 21:28

DS (with the help of my sister) got me a KK spotted coffee mug. I don't much like it, but he chose it himself and so of course I don't feel like I can get rid of it. I really hope it didn't cost too much.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 03/11/2008 21:29

Thank you, paws, for broadening my education in matters of needlecraft. I have seen 'fat quarters' being sold in my local sewing emporium and have long been intrigued by their name!

Tidey · 03/11/2008 21:30

I meant CK, obviously. And I just had a look on the website, it was £4.00. Phew.

Pawslikepaddington · 03/11/2008 21:35

He he, I feel v high brow in the world of needlecraft now-HENLEEEEIIEEE, must get to HENLEEEEIEEE dah-ling!

samsonara · 03/11/2008 23:30

I love some of her shop stuff but find it too pricey for what it is but I've got all of the Tesco Cath Kidston eco bags link, as they are her prints on recycled bottles and only cost £3.50

pamelat · 04/11/2008 09:06

The whole "cup cake" debate was on radio 2 the other day when someone called in and accused the presenter of using an Americanism and they were able to prove him wrong. I cant really remember why but cup cakes are allowed and are a very specific type of cake!

stitch · 04/11/2008 09:10

way way to pricey for what it is.

pamelat · 04/11/2008 14:32

cheaper than laura ashley?

ninedragons · 04/11/2008 14:47

I thought it was only me. I loathe that geranium red/pale blue colour combination. Chartreuse is the only bigger aesthetic assault.

figcake · 04/02/2011 12:14

I liked the early stuff - I think she has overstreched the concept to the point of madness. Useless coverings for generally useless stuff now.

FindingStuffToChuckOut · 04/02/2011 12:25

CK has been totally outdone by Emma Bridgewater IMO - Fuck it's expensive and bleugh!!! Very popular in Chiswick though ......... Hmm

rookiemater · 04/02/2011 12:27

YANBU I hate it, its like that goddawful Kirsty Allsopp woman, punts the idea that not only are we meant to go out and earn money to feel fulfilled, but we are also meant to dress in flowery pinnies, bake cupcakes and ensure we have delightful interiors. Sorry I do get a little riled up over Cath Kidson, I'm not sure why.

BuzzLightBeer · 04/02/2011 12:40

another zombie thread!

kreecherlivesupstairs · 04/02/2011 12:41

How was this resurrected? I don't know who this Kidson person is, nor Allsopp.

MardyBra · 04/02/2011 12:42

YANBU - it's like Laura Ashley vom in the early 80s. At least Laura Ashley has moved on.

Not a great fan of Emma Bridgewater either but I would at least consider some of their stuff.

Maud2011 · 04/02/2011 12:47

YANBtheslightestU, surely it's merely a matter of personal taste? I like some of what she does and also find some of it overly twee. At least you know how what to get to make your Mum happy at Xmas and birthdays Smile.

meantosay · 04/02/2011 12:49

I like a few bits and pieces of her stuff around the place but definitely not a house filled with her curtains and candles and cutlery and cereal bowls. It would be a bit overpowering. But I do like a little bit of colour and pattern and nostalgia around the house.

windynight · 04/02/2011 13:12

No OP I agree

Its grown up hello kitty and a little immature for me Im afraid

Honeybee79 · 04/02/2011 13:18

A little bit of it is nice, but most is overpriced, overly sweet, retro shite. I have a little radio but nothing else. Some people, like my SIL, are totally obsessed.

sue52 · 04/02/2011 13:20

A little bit of her stuff goes a long way.

buyingagent · 20/02/2011 10:46

I wrote a tongue in cheek piece about the proliferation of Cath Kidston, Boden and lots of other middle class 'things' that I see trawling around homes for clients: An A-Z of a middle class home: bit.ly/eE9Jw8

TiggyD · 20/02/2011 10:54

Cath Kidston. Hmm

I saw a whole shop of it the other day. You could have got the same effect if you had taken Dame Barbara Cartland and force-fed her cupcakes until she burst in a an explosion of floral vomit.

I'm not a fan.
