At people having baby talk conversations with my dd (2.6 now, but this has been done since she was newborn) and asking her questions she obviously cannot answer so therefore must be aimed at me...and yet I'm never acknowledged when I answer...so sometimes I just don't bother and stand with an inane smile wishing they would bugger off or just talk normally?

What do you do?

Is it an age thing? Tends to be older people in my experience...I know one younger person that does it...(and is just as irritating...) bit like forcing your company onto someone who can't talk back...
