Ok.. arranged what I thought was a fairly straightforward affair with some local mums in my village, we knock on eachothers door on Friday night and do the trick or treat thing. I made a halloween cake my dd was very excited. I'm the only mum that works. Get this.. on Friday I get a call that he arrangements had changed to accomodate another mum in the next village and there was no time to go to my house (even though I had made a bastard cake and my dd was excited) to add insult to injury I was told that one of the kids was a '7 o clock girl' so we had to hurry... I picked my dd up shovelled tea into her shoved her into her costume to start the ridiculous carry on.. then the mum at the last stop told us not to go until 6.15 cos they were having their tea! When we got there we were told to wait in the car (yes car!) they weren't ready.... we then had to sit on the bloody kitchen floor drinking hot chocolate with marshmallows floating about. What the ..???? The mum said 'ok girls do you want to go out for a scream?' I said 'Please can I' My poor dd sobbed when we got home full of nasty sweets and deveasted that no one came round for our cake, I opened a bottle of wine and sobbed too.. I refuse to do it next year

Oh dear.

I took mine to the local pub in costume. I had a glass of wine and they ran around like nutters with the other kids. It was great.

That is horrible, rebelmum - how rude of those other mums

rebelmum1 · 03/11/2008 12:14

I was up until midnight icing that bastard cake, and cleaning the house because I was at work all the next day.. and knew I wouldn't have time ..

I mean if I asked people to wait outside my house til I was ready, they'd be there for 6 months at least!

rebelmum, so many people are useless, thoughtless, lazy selfish twats. it's a wonder that they manage to stay alive.

What you describe does not suprise me i'm afraid

Ronaldinhio · 03/11/2008 12:30

can I go trick and treating with smug colditz next year?

sounds fab

UnfortunatelyMurderedMe · 03/11/2008 12:37

Sounds BLOODY AWFUL. Did anyone have fun?

Wallace · 03/11/2008 12:41

my dd ate the cake sobbing, and I ate some cake with a large glass of wine ... I took the cake round to one of the mums who is nice and asked if she wouldn't mind sharing it with us as my dd was devasted that no one would come for cake..

I haven't seen the others and am not inclined to atm as I don't quite trust what I will say.. I will just not arrange anything with them again yaboo!

am just completely baffled that they are sat on the floor drinking chocolate with marshmallows on a friday night and in some way think that this is normal behaviour ... one of the mums thinks I'm eccentric because I don't get dressed until lunchtime on my days off!

and I don't get those high pitched patronising singing type voices they put on ..

Wow they sound like a bunch of twats rebel. How rude to ask you to wait in the car!!! Im not dressed yet. I have brushed my teeth and my hair and have make up on but my pj's are just too comfey!!!

Perhaps next year you could invite some of dd's school friends over and have a little halloween party. Sorry that she was disapointed. seems really sad!

you poor thing! sounds like you have had enough of those women.

That was so unfair on your little girl. And you.

Try not to get sucked into anything at Christmas (if you are so inclined) to prevent anymore disaapointment.

Buda · 03/11/2008 13:00

How weird of them! And rude. Your poor DD.
