Had a prescribtion for dd2 3 weeks ago. I took inot ASDA, and they had some of what i needed, but one thing they didnt. They said it would be ordered and be in within 3 days and someone would call once it came in.

One week later, no call. I go in to be told it was a "Special order" and these take 7 days. When had it been order i asked? Today!! came the reply. The phamasist explained that they had to order 6 bottles as its not possible to buy just one. thats why it took so long they had to wait for someone to agree it. Told someone would call me when it came in.

I went in today to get dd2 other prescribtion and asked again about my order as it had now been 3, yes 3 weeks!! to be told, nope not there, has never been ordered as its not cost effective to them to order 6 bottles and someone should have called me!! they rang my GP while there to ask if he will write script for 6 bottles, answer was no!! So 3 weeks later no meds for dd2 and now have to go back to doctors to pick up another script as ASDA had written all over mine

Do i complain to ASDA, go to papers or is there someone else that i should tell. BTW DD2 is 13months!

Could you not have gone to another pharmacy ?? I mean, when they originally said they'd have to order it in.

That is disgusting. Def letter to Manager / Head Office. Appalling behaviour.
I always use a small, local chemist and they are great. Always order stuff for next day if they don't have it in. Best to find a small, independent chemist and stick with it.
I don't think Boots, Asda etc. are ever going to care.
Sorry to hear you have been waiting so long, hopefully you will get you DS's prescription soon.

personally, if my DD was waiting for meds for 1 week + i'd chase it up myslef

remiss of asda not to call you, and not to order until a week after request, but onus also on you to chase up medication for your DCs

yes i could have done but when they said they would order it in, i didnt mind at all. But to wait 3 weeks and find they havent order is terrible, and if they called would have been fine, and now have to go back to GP! maybe its just me having a bad day

Well, they said 3 days, which was fine yet a week later it still isn't in? YANBU. That is pretty bad of Asda tbh.

Complain! loudly! If they don't want to be in the business of filling prescriptions they can give it up any time, but while they are they can't just do it when they feel like it.

Write to the manager and complain. They should have told you about the delay. It really irritates me when they mess with medicines.

I hope you get some kind of appology if not vouchers And go to an independant chemist next time, ime they are much more helpful and well informed.

Oh it is definatly crap of them yes, but after they didn't order the first time i'd have just gone elsewhere.

My Boots quite often doesn't have what's needed in stock so I just wait until I am passing my local pharmacy then.

i was chasing it, I dropped off, waited a week, went back, told be another week, went back, not ordered. I dont really think i would go to the papers, im not that bad honestly. hehe. i guess just surprised money matters that much to a huge company over a babies health

Definitely complain - I used to have the same problem when ordering dd's formula - it used to take weeks - I changed to a smaller pharmacy and they got it in days.

im not good at face to face confrontation, i normally endup in tears when i get angry, especially over my girls. will def do a letter to manager though.

i always stick with one pharmacy, when they shut for a refit for a week we had mild panic over dh perscription (not run of the mill stuff)

Call the shop manager & say you want the medication for your baby now - they've had enough time to get it. It sounds rubbish that they have to order 6 bottles of something - Asda is a big shop - they must, in the whole of the uk, have a bottle they could delivery by a courier company to your home.

I don't think the option to go somewhere else would be there if all these items were on the same prescription - once a pharmacy has dispensed one item, that prescription 'belongs' to them: you can't take it to another chemsit to get the remaining items. So the OP would be stuck with either waiting for Asda to order the item in, or starting again and getting a whole new prescription from the GP.

Lisad123 - Very annoying, and they should certainly have told you at the first visit. I would write and complain to the store manager and also head office, saying that not only will you not get your prescriptions there but you will also be shopping elsewhere, e.g. Tesco and using their pharmacy. They won't know whether it's true or not but it should make them think.
