To Go away for 4 days on with a friend......?

I have the opportunity to go away for 4 days in Jan with my best friend. We are going to go ski-ing. I have 3 kids who will be 10, 6 and almost 4. Its in term time so the drop offs and pick ups will take a bit of organising. Dh says he will be fine. My mum and my PIL live less than a mile away....

I really really want to go....

Its not in place of any family hols or anything... is it selfish to go alone ?

no yanbu. Am presuming by your angst that this is a little out of character for you to take such a trip? Go and have lots of fun

Salleroo · 30/10/2008 18:34

Well Horntail, thankfully you don't need your PIL's permission .

DoubleToilandTroubleBluff · 30/10/2008 19:06

sounds fab. Go for it!!

needsomeonetotalkto · 30/10/2008 19:06

Go and enjoy!

squeakypop · 30/10/2008 19:06

If your DH is encouraging you to go, and inlaws are happy to help out, then go with their blessing.

unknownrebelbang · 30/10/2008 19:08

I went away (alas only to Wales) last week with a friend, leaving my 14, 12 and 10 year olds with DH.

Did the same (Yorkshire) about 5 years ago too.

They all survived, both times.

No, it's not selfish at all (saved my sanity last week if I'm honest).

Go.

Enjoy.

unknownrebelbang · 30/10/2008 19:09

(DFIL made some quasi-cantankerous remarks the day before I went, but I just asked him if he thought DH couldn't cope - soon shut him up).

GO woman GO

mammyofET · 30/10/2008 19:56

Go.

DH and I went skiing for 5 days when DS was 18 mo (he stayed with GP).

He was asbolsutely fine and I was glad of the trip. I missed him but it was fantastic.

Go and before you go make up your mind that you're going to enjoy it. It is not in slightest bit selfish.

pamelat · 30/10/2008 20:28

took me a few seconds too long to realise you meant that he stayed with grand parents, rather than your GP!!

Sorry, know relevant, just sniggering at myself now. I need to read up on m/net language

I take a few days out each year to recharge from the energy drain of 4DC. (DP normally gets me a spa voucher for xmas) Luuurvee it. You must go, enjoy x.

MarsLady · 31/10/2008 20:10

Go enjoy! Great for you all. I do it a couple of times a year. Makes me a fabby mum!

PortofinoPumpkin · 31/10/2008 20:14

Go! Enjoy it! And can I come....?

Quattrocento · 31/10/2008 20:15

I think you'd be pretty unreasonable NOT to go. Good lord. Skiing? No children? 4 nights?

Can't you go for the week?

Have fun
