To be very upset about my step sister joining this facebook 'group'

Just been on fb and on the newsfeed i saw my ss has joined a group entitled "for anyone who hates all packies"! Her dad married my mum a year ago and we're recently become friends. She's quiet different to me but seeing as we're now related i make an effort with her. Her dd is a similar age to my ds so we've been on playdates, out of lunch etc. Now i have seen this i feel utterly discusted. I want to have nothing to do with her. What should i do? Confront her about it? Ignore it and just be casual with her at family gettogethers? I'm really shocked. I didn't ever imagine such an attitude from her. I have never seen any signs of this. Oh and surely facebook should ban such 'groups'?

ahhh so peenutt is a racist herself?
explains a lot.

run along now

UpJacobscreek · 23/10/2008 21:23

I was shocked to realise that there is a lot of these groups on FB an examples is
"If you don't want to follow our rules then F* off out of our country"

There is loads if you want to search for them but I can't be bothered.
.
Only ignorant idiots join these groups so YANBU

thisisyesterday · 23/10/2008 21:23

anarchyaunt, how do you report it??

AnarchyAunt · 23/10/2008 21:25

Go to bottom of page and there's a clicky for "Report"

lucykate · 23/10/2008 21:25

don't know what is worse, the fb group or peenutt(er)

lulumama · 23/10/2008 21:25

they've spelt 'packies' wrong, so i doubt they have enough of an IQ to realise how moronic they are

i couldn't not say something

vile

thisisyesterday · 23/10/2008 21:26

ok done it

LynetteScavo · 23/10/2008 21:26

I also don't see how making an effort is a bitchy thing to say / do. Not making an effort would be bithcy. It can be hard to suddenly aquire step sibliings at any age.

The best thing to do probably, mamakin would be to bring it up with her face to face, and mention how suprised you are, and give her an explanation as to why you find it so distasteful. TBH, I wouldn't want my children to spend too long around raging racists.

theSuburbanDryad · 23/10/2008 21:26

I have reported them.

AnarchyAunt · 23/10/2008 21:27

Crazy to think FB apparently do not allow pics of babies being BF yet this group is deemed ok...

spooka · 23/10/2008 21:27

I've reported it too.

wessexgirl · 23/10/2008 21:28

Ha! Reported too.

How vile.

ravenAK · 23/10/2008 21:28

Have reported. Horrible losers.

babyOcho · 23/10/2008 21:28

i reported the group as well

AnarchyAunt · 23/10/2008 21:28

Oh good we are all reporting the racist small minded ignorant fuckers.

AnarchyAunt · 23/10/2008 21:29

I heart MN.

LynetteScavo · 23/10/2008 21:30

My life that's hideous!

I can't find the "report" clicky though.

Having seen it I think I would say "I can't beleive you joined that FB group!" to her.

mamakim · 23/10/2008 21:31

She's not actually on the members list now, maybe she left. She is very young, but that doesn't make it excusable. It's just very uncomfortable now because it's not like we were close but as she's young and a single mum i'd help her out with her daughter and try and be there for her. Now i just want zero to do with her. I am genuinely so shocked. Her dad is so lovely, he'd be so upset and disgusted by this.

i want to report more, but i don't really want to start searching facebook for them!

BloodshotEyeballsintheScarySky · 23/10/2008 21:33

Reported. Ignorant arseholes.

nooOOOoonki · 23/10/2008 21:33

I would bring it up with her, and say that you found it shocking.

It would be good for her to hear that it is wrong.

TrinityRhino · 23/10/2008 21:34
mamakim · 23/10/2008 21:34

I can't believe people really think like that. I'm so upset to think someone relatively close to me would think like that. Please excuse all my spelling mistakes, i'm dyslexic and being upset doesn't help.
