More what would you do - a bit concerned about this childminder's care

Name changed for what will become obv reasons.

Last week I went to a mums and toddlers group. Got chatting to a really lovely, friendly c/m.

She explained which ones were her mindees and referred to one being asleep in the buggy "out there."

Out there was, in fact right by the front door to the street, which was unlocked. The front door is two sets of double doors from where we were sitting.

She didn't have a monitor, and I don't think she checked on the child in the hour I was there, but she may have done.

I'm not sure of the child's age - presume 3 or under.

Before anyone starts accusing me of being a daily mail reader I know child snatches are very rare - but would you be happy with this if this was your child?

TWM - I would be absolutely livid... that is so dangerous, anything could happen. I'm surprised you haven't had many responses saying just that! I think people seem to think you are having a dig at CMs but surely not all CMs would take such a risk so no-one should take offence.

And you are very entitled to make the choice of not going back to a place that you didn't feel happy with, no matter what reason there is. You don't need to justify it to anyone.

Hope you find a more suitable group for you and your little one .

Thanks Kimmy.

To clarify - for everyone else's benefit - I have no problem with c/m's in general, I have one lined up for my baby in December.

The issue, for me, is that I didn't feel that this child was being cared for to the standard that I, as a parent, would like.

I therefore wondered if there was anything I could/should do.

If this was my child I would want to know about this.
