luvaduck · 20/10/2008 17:03

yup, think its a real threat
wonder if it keeps him awake at night?

CoteDAzur · 20/10/2008 17:04

Have you seen the crowd shouting "Kill him! Kill him!" during a Sarah Palin rally?

Didn't they already stop some local hicks with guns at one of his conventions?? I think I remember reading about it, saying they didn't want a black man in charge?

nooOOOoonki · 20/10/2008 17:06

I wouldn't be surprised

CoteDAzur · 20/10/2008 17:09

I was reading in The Times today that Colin Powell thought of running for president years ago but his wife stopped him, because she was afraid he would be assassinated.

hecAteTheirBrains · 20/10/2008 17:10

Yes. I think it is a very real risk. There appears to be a lot of racism in America. KKK and all that. Very scary.

AuraofDora · 20/10/2008 17:10

its a real possibility i would think
country is full of nutters

expatinscotland · 20/10/2008 17:12

A far scarier thought is McCain winning, his carking it (a distinct possibility) and that nutjob Palin in charge of things.

FAQ · 20/10/2008 17:13

I agree - has also crossed my mind too that it could happen

NotQuiteCockney · 20/10/2008 17:14

I don't think it's a risk, I think an assassination attempt, at the very least, is inevitable, tbh.

LouMacca · 20/10/2008 17:22

The title of this thread made me jump as I had only been discussing this very subject with my brother last week.

I commented how fantastic it is that the USA would be getting its first black president. My brother really shocked me by saying he thinks Barack Obama will be taken out before he gets chance to get to the white house.

Obviously a lot of you share the shame opinion

CoteDAzur · 20/10/2008 17:23

Oh yes, Palin. I am amazed that ignorant nut boosted McCain's campaign for a while, before US economy went belly up.

OP posts:
LouMacca · 20/10/2008 17:23

same opinion

francagoestohollywood · 20/10/2008 17:23

Have the same worry, though at the moment, like expat, I worry that Mc cain could win (shivers)

elkiedee · 20/10/2008 17:24

dp keeps saying he'll be assassinated, and I thought he was obsessed with conspiracy theory.

hifi · 20/10/2008 17:26

dh family live in the us, 3 of them have said separately that he will be assassinated. one of then said there's no way the us would be ruled by a n***. the person who said this was an african american.

CoteDAzur · 20/10/2008 17:39

If only he were a W Bush kind of black man - ignorant, goofy, arrogant, dumb - he could be better tolerated.

But no. He is articulate, well-read, intelligent.

I have never been to the USA. I don't have any friends there or have any contact with America in anyway. Is there still huge racism problem over there?

beeny · 20/10/2008 17:46

I think he will be assassinated

Tee2072 · 20/10/2008 17:48

I am American. I do think he will die in office within the first year if he is elected.

And yes, loumacca racism is still a huge problem in the US. The US is a huge country, with all sorts of people in it. And the deep south is still full of a lot of people who will never vote for a n--r. I also think that that is why Hilary didn't win the nomination. Cuz they weren't going to vote for a bh or a n--r.

But I still want Obama to win. President Biden is a much less scary prospect than President Palin. Which I also think will happen if McCain wins. He is not a young or healthy man.

::steps off soap box::

Sadly, I think you are right.
