Yet again the Mail On Sunday (why do I buy that piece of crap, is Nurse bashing).

Instead of a well researched piece of journalism, we get the 'a nurse called my mum by her first name' - I kid you not.

If decent journalists would help, ie advocate for decent staffing levels I would respect the so called professionalism of journalists.

But no, it is easier to write a load of sentimental crap about nurses of today being slags, no angels etc.

At least at the end of my shift I feel I have made a difference. What can a journalist say after she (Claudia Joseph, Minnete Marins) has written a unresearched load of tosh.

Oh, and if either of these women would like to exchange their saleries for mine, I would be only too happy to oblige.

Well in fairness you can't read the DM expecting decent journalism.

Seriously though, don't buy it. Buying it and increasing it's circulation only reinforces the impression that there is an appetite for this type of shite.

If all the news the mail can produce this week is about nurses calling patients by there first names, they really have got there haeds up there own arses and havn't seen what is going on in the world

I thought it was a good piece. It was not just the use of the first name at all. That completely misrepresents the treatment she got, including being shouted at for asking nurses to be quiet in the night at the station so that she (an 80 year old with terminal lung cancer could sleep). I've been on the receiving end of horrible, lazy, cruel nurses too, and it was an horrific experience.

Do not normally buy it after the last nurse bashing incident, but it was either The Mail on Sunday or the Sun by the time I got to the newsagent.

I've met some crap nurses but most of them are conscientious and hard working.

When you are very vulnerable and in pain, how you are treated is vitally important and some nurses are cruel and lazy, and they cause huge trauma.

So if I have to ring a doctor up in the night to come to a patient, I have to whisper on the phone?

No, you don't have to whisper when speaking to doctors, but I have been in wards where nurses discussed last night's EastEnders loudly at 3am. If that's the situation, then fair play to the lady complaining. I am sure you do a great job but there are nurses who do not. I can also understand how annoying it is for a whole profession to be represented a certain way, but then it again it's not just nurses. My DH works for a council and there is far more mileage in scornful articles about lazy council workers just after a fat pension payment (if only these days!) He works hard to make people's lives better and it's pretty hurtful. At the same time, I know not all council workers are like that.
