Ok, commencing rant.

We are looking for our hol for next year.

All we want, is a PRIVATE pool.

So it's what we search for. Keyword - private pool.

Simple you would think.

Well, you'd be wrong

A PRIVATE pool, in the eyes of those TWAAAAAAAAAATS who put their properties up with misleading specs, or who maintain the sites, often means a pool shared with several other holiday lets all owned by the same person, or even the owners own pool that you can use for an hour a day by prior arrangement.

It should not be this hard to identify a PRIVATE pool, without having to email them and say "When you say 'private', can you confirm that you mean private as in for the exclusive use of my party only and not used at all at any time during my stay by anyone not a member of my family"

Private pool
shared pool
public pool

It's not fricking hard now IS IT?? ARRGGHHH

Go on, now tell me how you wish this is all you had to worry about!

Ronaldinhio · 19/10/2008 15:31

yanbu but I am very jealous of your potential pool arrangements

hecAteTheirBrains · 19/10/2008 15:31

well, quite Scarey.

I prefer to swim only in my own children's pee!

(Before you all think I'm loaded and wait for me in a dark alley - some of these places cost less than a week at butlins or cetreparks!)

I would expect a private pool to be private, that means not shared. Mind you this pool is supposed to be private somebody needs to tell this manic frog that as he thinks it is his and is basking in the sun and cooling off in the pool!

Whereabouts are you wanting to go?

findtheriver · 19/10/2008 15:32

YANBU

A private pool should mean for your exclusive use (and your children's exclusive pee)

MarsLady · 19/10/2008 15:33

details of some of these places please oh pool snob!

hecAteTheirBrains · 19/10/2008 15:34

oh, I am still looking, anywhere in UK, not fussy. only needs a private pool, a secure garden and near to fun things to do!

I cannot believe you are mning! You really are an addict!

How's the hol going?

OP posts:
hecAteTheirBrains · 19/10/2008 15:36

Devon might be good lots of places with pools there.
The kids have been in and out of the pool all day and are now watching cbeebies, I am having a sangria coffee and a dose of MN before bathing the kids and going out for tea.

BitOfFun · 19/10/2008 15:48

hey OJ, that sounds fantastic, I'm so jealous! I am MN-ing on my phone in the car, have just reached rainy Scottish Borders on way to visit my old friend and her new baby on Edinburgh. Fortunately I am not driving. I might start waving at random country retreats in case Expat lives in one.

Cheeseandseveredfingersarnie · 19/10/2008 15:50

I don't think you are being unreasonable. Whatever it is that you are looking for in a holiday, it is perfectly reasonable to expect that you should be able to rely on accurate descriptions of the holidays/properties you are looking at.

Possibly people can choose to have their properties included in the search results for private pools (or whatever), and do so in the hopes that someone will fall for their property even though the pool isn't entirely private - on the basis that it's a compromise on the perfect property but one they can live with. It gets their property to a wider audience, but is pretty frustrating for someone who's searching for a particular requirement.
