...to expect cleaner to not clean my entire house with glass cleaner!

...because today she has used Windolene on everything from French Polished coffee table to kitchen worktops?!

I have an inordinate number of cleaning products available to her - bathroom, kitchen, oven, floor etc etc...but she clearly has chosen to ignore all of these in favour of the one bottle. So today as I witnessed the excessive Windolene usage, I attempted (in a very friendly way) to educate her in the uses of the other products she has been ignoring in the cupboard. I am absolutley not convinced that she cared grasped what I was saying though...

So...whilst I accept a degree of difficulty as her English is only basic , I do expect that when an agency send her, she can at least identify basic cleaning products. If all else fails, they have pictures on the bottles of sinks and toilets and wooden tables...how hard can it be!?

OMG
I think we have the same cleaner! Windolene on EVERYTHING. She's a lovely middle aged Polish lady who speaks very little English.

I hide the Windolene now on the day she comes

am also in your area

CaptainKarvol · 17/10/2008 18:35

Like the pink, sticky Windolene? Or the clear spray on type? THe pink sticky stuff would be appalling!

dexter73 · 17/10/2008 18:49

Have you seen 'Big Fat Greek Wedding'? The dad in that uses windolene on everything!

SarkyandGeorge · 17/10/2008 18:55

If she was using it on something she could damage with it then i'd go nuts but if I came home every day and everything was clean (and I had no knowledge that it was due to windolene-excess) then i'd just tell her to spray away! Carry on with whatever she's doing!

FlirtyThirty · 17/10/2008 18:57

Hana - She is Polish but quite young...so perhaps a relative! I honestly can't believe it...

DesperatelySeeking - That's hilarious - glad you've cracked it today!

CaptainK - 'pink, sticky Windolene' ?!? Never heard of it. Thankfully it was clear!

there is such a thing as windowlene universal cleaner maybe she recognises name and doesnt realises this one is just for windows

bubblagirl · 17/10/2008 18:59

windolene sorry

FlirtyThirty · 17/10/2008 18:59

Sanky - she only comes for a few hours a week. Sadly the Flirty family budget doesn't stetch to daily...

Dexter - Have not seen the film...but perhaps that is her inspiration...who knows!?

Bubblagirl - I am enlightened; didn't know such a product existed. Perhaps that is exactly what she thought...though I wonder why she thought I bought all the other things!? A mystery.

lol lots of people have products that do the same thing i guess but you become used to one could youm put cleaning products in said rooms for her to use so she gets the hint take her round show product and where you want it

she may just be used to that one product maybe others simplify for her for lack of english language one product does all less explaining and confusion

bubblagirl · 17/10/2008 19:09

to be honest havent seen it myself but i have a friend who uses it not sure where she got it from though but she told me thats what it was maybe its not and she is your cleaner lol

CaptainKarvol · 17/10/2008 20:03

aha - pink sticky windolene = old style windolene, great on windows, but needs elbow grease. I was a cleaner (sorry, 'domestic assistant') for a couple of years and had to use it. It smells potent I'm very glad for you that it wasn't that version.
