To think that if I fish the remote control out of the toilet and dry it out in the airing cupboard I can use it again?

Open it up take out batteries put it in a bowl of dry rice cover and leave over night.
The rice will extract the water, truly this has worked with my mobile phone and DS2s watch.

354kidz · 16/10/2008 19:19

but water in loo's are clean...believe it or not...

Grumpalina · 16/10/2008 19:21

I washed my remote in the washing machine when 8 months pregnant. After about a week of drying out it worked ok. You need to take the batteries out and leave the battery compartment open.

As long as no one had had actually done anything in the toilet it should be fine???!!!

354kidz · 16/10/2008 19:21

wow good advise kim!

354kidz · 16/10/2008 19:22

lol @ grump yes!!

mumof2andabit · 16/10/2008 19:28

Lol we did this when ours went for a swim in teh fish tank! Was perfetly fine apart from the volume

teasleepfood · 16/10/2008 19:36

Dropped my work ID badge down the loo the other day, no choice but to wash and wear!
I think there have been studies done on the amount of bacteria and foecal matter (poo) on hands and that's just as frightening as cleaning a remote thouroughly that has inadvertently been in the loo.

KimiTrickOrTreat · 16/10/2008 19:37

Dettox

Twelvelegs · 16/10/2008 19:38

It worked for my phone.....If it's a sky remote they may send you a new one for free.

Ronaldinhio · 16/10/2008 19:51

ours has been in the loo and worked...it depends how long it was in there for I guess..or is it a question of being too grim to continue using it?
God I never even thought of that at the time

AIB unreasonably slobby therefore?

Flamesparrow · 16/10/2008 19:57

IT'LL BE FIIIIIIIIIIINE

Yanda · 16/10/2008 20:44

YANBU, I'd just stick it on the radiator and hope for the best, maybe a wipe over with a flash wipe once it was dry.

hidetheribbons · 16/10/2008 21:15

Ok. Thanks. I'll give it a go ...

Rice definitely works. My dd dropped her phone in coke and then we had to wash all the sticky out. We left it in an open bag of rice in the airing cupboard for 2 weeks and it now works perfectly!

smartiejake · 16/10/2008 22:18

ps. Throw the rice out afterwards.
