To hate the track suit families?

Ok, I know the general concencus is going to be that I'm a snob but...

AIBU to get irritated by 'tracksuit' families? By this I mean families who litrally live in tracksuits?

There is a family opposite who have two boys aged 9 and 11. Both of them wear tracksuit bottoms for school (and all other times!) so they basically wear the school jumper, t-shirt etc and scruffy tracksuit bottoms.

Come september when most people buy all new uniform I make a point of wondering if their mum will buy some school trousers for them to go back to school in...

Just before the holidays one year my son was talking to one of them and he said something about his new school trousers...Next day he left the house and it turned out that his mum had bought him NEW TRACKSUIT BOTTOMS to go back to school in!

Another family down the street with boys was out in the driveway one time and their mum said (or screeched!) "oi you two, I've got you some new clothes...but you can't have them now, they're for best!" so the lads ran to the bags and took the stuff out and it was all tracksuit bottoms! And the woman genuinly believed that they were smart and could be born for 'best'

Another lad down the street...just started secondary school...went to school first week all smart in new uniform, 2nd week he left the house in tracky bottoms but with the rest of the uniform still looking nice and smart!

I know it shouldn't, but it annoys me!

well....if the piss fits ....

oh god, the butler would never wear track syute bottoms. its more the cook ( too fat)

Your having alot of issues with people's clothing today. Did you know that alot of tracksuits price from 20-150 depending on what one your buying does that annoy you more.

The OP didn't mention the parents wearing tracksuits though, only two little boys.

Ghostly you need to upgrade, you obviously live in a rough area if there is a tracksuit family living opposite, sell up now.

"It looks odd when you see some 14 stone person with a muffin roll that can be seen from outer space in a tracksuit though" how about a 20 stone person trying to lose weight? Is that acceptable.

Damn Vinegar- yes, I admit it its me, I'm back from the 80's but now eat pies. Got fed up with all these slebs workout vids, not a patch on mine, so gave the exercise up. imagine a shiny red beached whale..

Anyway I deffo don't want to wear school uniform that really would look odd.

I suppose this would have annoyed me back in the days when I was responsible for enforcing school uniform rules.

But then, I'm not wildly in favour of school uniform either, so it would have been more annoyance at the school for making me have to be annoyed with the trackie-wearers iyswim.

Tracksuits in school sound eminently sensible to me - comfortable, hardwearing and suitable for outdoor play.
