To hate the track suit families?

Ok, I know the general concencus is going to be that I'm a snob but...

AIBU to get irritated by 'tracksuit' families? By this I mean families who litrally live in tracksuits?

There is a family opposite who have two boys aged 9 and 11. Both of them wear tracksuit bottoms for school (and all other times!) so they basically wear the school jumper, t-shirt etc and scruffy tracksuit bottoms.

Come september when most people buy all new uniform I make a point of wondering if their mum will buy some school trousers for them to go back to school in...

Just before the holidays one year my son was talking to one of them and he said something about his new school trousers...Next day he left the house and it turned out that his mum had bought him NEW TRACKSUIT BOTTOMS to go back to school in!

Another family down the street with boys was out in the driveway one time and their mum said (or screeched!) "oi you two, I've got you some new clothes...but you can't have them now, they're for best!" so the lads ran to the bags and took the stuff out and it was all tracksuit bottoms! And the woman genuinly believed that they were smart and could be born for 'best'

Another lad down the street...just started secondary school...went to school first week all smart in new uniform, 2nd week he left the house in tracky bottoms but with the rest of the uniform still looking nice and smart!

I know it shouldn't, but it annoys me!

I'm off to get myself a nice adidas trackie. And I will wear it next time I log on to honour this thread. Lordy.

CherryChapstick · 16/10/2008 12:43

Brightongirl. Get a dirty one, hmmmm?

I will however, look down my nose at you. NOT!

PuzzleRocks · 16/10/2008 12:44

Gosh OP, what a nasty, petty little snob you are. I suppose you are one of those people who think they elevate themselves by looking down on others. If you had any class at all you wouldn't dream oif making such small minded comments.

VinegARGHHHTits · 16/10/2008 12:44

Just out of interest, what do you wear to do the school run in then PC? i am hardly twiggy and if i am not working i can be found slobbing around in tracksuit bottms, and i dare to go out of the house in them too

PuzzleRocks · 16/10/2008 12:44

Oif?

DrNortherner · 16/10/2008 12:44

Oh this thread has made me chuckle!!!

OP - of course YABU to be irratted by tracksuit wearing families - get a grip woman.

However, only on MN could "I know a woman with a severe medical condition who lives in tracksuits cause she values the comfirt" be mentioned on a tracksuit wearing thread......

I am not laughing at her medical condition you understand....ust teh whole 'people who wear tracksuits all day may have a medical condition....only on MN....

kerryk · 16/10/2008 12:46

i dont understand why people wear them if they are not doing sports!

are they really that comfy? i only own one pair for when i go to the gym and i dont find them comfy.

there is a woman near me who wear trackies all day everyday but has never set foot in a gym. she used to only wear white/black/grey ones but fancied a change one day so bought some lime green and canary yellow ones to change with.

worst thing is because she is tall the sit abover her ankles and you can see all her celulite through them.

not a good look!!!

brightongirldownunder · 16/10/2008 12:47

It won't be for at least 5 mins but I'm afraid once DD's got her grubby mits on it I will be diirrrrtty. I'm thinking I buy one for DH and DD (17m) as well. A bit like "The Royal Tenenbaums"..or whatever that film was called. we could all grow mullets.

DrNortherner · 16/10/2008 12:47

Yes. You should only ever wear a tracksuit in between running round a fucking track.

CherryChapstick · 16/10/2008 12:47

Have a perm.

brightongirldownunder · 16/10/2008 12:48

Sorry that was aimed at Cherrychapstick if people are a bit confused..

Tamarto · 16/10/2008 12:48

DrN - Not before a swimming race or the high jump?

CherryChapstick · 16/10/2008 12:49

Me too, the perm comment was aimed at Brightongirl.

Liffey · 16/10/2008 12:49

Well, from a sartorial point of view I don't get it because they are so unflattering. But I'd hate if somebody hated me because I live in jeans, which I do......

PuzzleRocks · 16/10/2008 12:50

I live in jeans too, I wonder what that says about us?

DrNortherner · 16/10/2008 12:50

Tamarto - yes, ofcourse how silly of me, alos before a swimming race/hudles/high jump/javelin or shot put.

brightongirldownunder · 16/10/2008 12:51

Don't talk to me about perms CC - I attempted one in the 80's and the feckers burned my hair.

Please can people stop getting het up about some freaking bits of material - this is getting very weird..

CherryChapstick · 16/10/2008 12:52

Agree, brightongirl.
I'm off to do that RL thing.

VinegARGHHHTits · 16/10/2008 12:52

i think they flatter my arse, especially the bright pink ones i wear that have 'S E X Y' written across the bum

brightongirldownunder · 16/10/2008 12:52

I live in a spandex body suit - what does that say about me?

ScottishMummy · 16/10/2008 12:53

never noticed this.never will,because i dont care.nor should you

VinegARGHHHTits · 16/10/2008 12:54

brighton you must be pushed for space in that, how many bedrooms does it have?

brightongirldownunder · 16/10/2008 12:54

Oooh vinegar - is the "sexy" in diamante?

Liffey · 16/10/2008 12:54

roll them down a bit more at the back. we can't see your whale tail and your tramp stamp!
hey come on, relax everybody, it's just a look!

the barbour wearing brigade think the same when they look at the likes of me in oasis jeans and a v-neck gap top.

PuzzleRocks · 16/10/2008 12:54

That you sweat a lot?
