So I got this awful virus that is going around, Yesterday went to my local shop brought some All in one Beechams been taking since last night and after taking it this afternoon I saw it was out of date july 2008.

What should I do I want to go to the shop and cuss down the place but maybe thats not the best idea

Calm down! Blimey. Ask if they'll swap it for a fresh one if you like, but really, don't overreact.

Mabanana its out of date medicine which I have been drinking do you not think that shop keepers should be careful when it comes to medicine

You're entitled to an in date one, or a refund.

ImNotOnline · 14/10/2008 17:15

As careful as you should be before drinking it, why are they more responsible for you, than you are?

mabanana · 14/10/2008 17:16

Well, you didn't notice the date either! It won't hurt you. Everyone makes mistakes. Your apparent rage is totally out of proportion.

pingping · 14/10/2008 17:19

why because they are selling the product to people so its there job to ensure the product is safe anyways Obv I am being unreasonable I shall go to the shop and get a refund

Shops should be checking their stock on a regular basis to make sure it's not going out of date. They know how many of each item they've sold and if something's not selling then they need to check it's still OK.

I would complain and no it isn't your fault, you have a right to expect to be sold goods of a standard, especially when at full price with no indication there is a problem.

pingping · 14/10/2008 17:26

Thanks TinkerBellesMum I would not be so bothered but it went out of date in July 2008 you would think they would keep an eye on these things and its advised not to take it if its gone out of date and the last thing I check on medicine is the best before date even though I will be from now on.

Medicine seems to have a longer date than food too, makes you wonder how long it was sat there

What sort of shop was it?

pookybear · 15/10/2008 18:54

If you had paid for it with an old £5 note do you think they would have asked you for a current in date five pound note?
