I'm going at xmas (well the break between xmas and new year).

The thing is, I know it's expensive, but if we were to stay home we'd either have relatives decend on us (don't mind but they have to be fed and watered), or we'd go out coz we don't like sitting around watching telly, and this all costs money too. So my argument is do we really spend that much more by going away?

Website definately needs updating though.

MrsMattie · 13/10/2008 16:42

Oh, it's just silly, isn't it? I looked at their web site once and came away cackling cynically like a nutty old hag. Astronomically expensive for what it is.

childrenofthecornsilk · 13/10/2008 16:43

It's fab though.

MrsMattie · 13/10/2008 16:45

It cost almost as much for us to go to St Lucia for a week!

Silly.

childrenofthecornsilk · 13/10/2008 17:04

go before the hols and get a good deal

pellmell · 13/10/2008 17:09

I only looked because there is a promotion in the daily express £75 off a weekend or mid week break.

my mind boggles at the thought of spending that much money on butlins-with-boden. stay at home and go to the local leisure centre with the rest of us plebs.

Lauriefairycake · 13/10/2008 17:26

for that much I would go to Champneys on day packages for both days and I would be able to get about 6 treatments for that

from 9am - 9pm

and money left over for the sales

soultaken · 13/10/2008 17:32

well I'm going on those dates and I'm paying £360 for 2 adults and 4 kids. Don't know where £800 came from. Gonna go look now.

soultaken · 13/10/2008 17:39

Right, i've checked and there are a couple of 3 bed villas (sleep 6) available for £600 - am totally shocked by this. As I said earlier, I booked in July and paid £360 for the exact same thing.

Bastards? Why have they done that?

pellmell · 13/10/2008 17:41

I was looking at longleat
Some of the breaks were a staggering £1900
and I still say the webshite is crap!!!

BouncingTurtleSkulls · 13/10/2008 17:54

Well as long as there are fools people willing to pay that sort of money, they'll never be short of customers.

Boyswillbeboys · 13/10/2008 18:02

Don't worry, the prices will soon come crashing down and they will be begging us to go

soultaken · 13/10/2008 18:05

I KNEW IT !!!!!!!!!!!!

Have just looked at the website at the prices for xmas break 2009 and it's about half as much as 2008 - what a bunch of fekkers.

I guess it does pay to book early then. I suppose if you book early, they get to hold on to your deposit for a longer time so they make money on that but you still don't have to pay the balance till 10 weeks before departure no matter how early you book ahead.

So anyone who can't afford this year, book for next year.

exasperatedmummy · 13/10/2008 18:05

Go to Haven, its mountains cheaper!

bundle · 13/10/2008 18:07
