to complain at the ridiculous price a restaurant charged for a soft drink?

or is it not worth the effort.. because i was fuming when the bill came, but have had to chance to think about and can't decide if its worth it.

2 pints of lemonade and lime - How much do you reckon?

Yeah I would go for about £5.00
Not normally any cheaper than a pint of beer.

When I worked in a pub lime and soda was very cheap, might be an idea for next time if you like that.

I think the going rate would be about a fiver, anything over is a bit steep.

How much was it, then?

if the prices where displayed somewhere in the pub or you didn't bother to enquire as to the price of what you were ordering then YABU. they can charge what they like and if people are willing to pay it then more power to them.
seems a bit odd to order something without asking how much it is and then complain about the price.

Please tell me that you dont check the price of every soft drink at a restaurant (and its not some posh expensive place either) The meal for 3 came to £17 and then £7.80 for the drinks.
When i asked the waitress on receipt of the bill, she just said 'well you wanted a pint'. Silly me hey!

A pint of lemonade is £2 per pint where I work (you get the lime for free!)

I never ask for drink prices in pubs, I would be too enbarassed.

no i don't check the prices every where i go. but i don't complain after if i've been short sighted enough to order something and consume it when i don't know how much it costs.like when i was in canada, asked what beers they had on tap,they said heineken etc and i hadn't had a european beer in months so without thinking i ordered a heineken.of course cause we were in canada this meant it was imported and when the bill came the pint was $8 compared to 3.50 for a local beer.
i didn't complain though because it was my fault for not knowing what it cost,they ahdn't hoodwinked me much like this restaurant hasn't hoodwinked you. they gave you what you asked for,you happilly consumed it and then gave out about the price.
the pint was probably made up of 2 small bottles of lemon and lime like a lot of bars do.so it could easily have been 4 bottles of pop.
as i said before you have nothing to complain about.bussiness' can charge what they lie and if you don't want to pay their prices take your custom else where.

I'm becoming increasingly suprised at the cost of tea/ coffee and soft drinks it's bonkers my dd only gets water as I'm not paying over 2 quid for a drink for a toddler, it's nuts.

What really, really irritates me in pubs and restaurants is that the staff are told to "presume a large one" with soft drinks unless told otherwise. And the large ones often really are huge, like pint-glass size, so they get away with charging a fortune.

Is a lime-and-soda still the cheapest soft drink for a night out, or have they cottoned on to that now as well? It used to be about 25p.

For lime and soda we charge 50p for a half, £1 for a pint.

We always ask what kind of glass - ie. half, coke glass, pint.

It does irritate me that when I drink soft drinks they are a big big rip off , so these days tend to ask for a jar of tapwater

1/2 a lime and soda at my local is a gob smacking £1.80 - I think it's more expensive than a coke

A coke at our pub would be £1 for half, £1.50 for a coke sized glass, £2 for a pint.

If you were to have say a fresh orange and lemonade, then it would be £1.60 for the bottle of oj and 40p for the top up of lemonade.

What makes this worse is that i like nothing more than a cheeky glass of wine, but on this specific day felt it inappropriate because we were trating my DS to a pizza.

Think i will revert to the secret alcoholic that i am!!

£7.80 - Tsk!
