It's not really a massive deal, just an annoyance.

Does anyone else hate it when a customer gives you a note that is screwed up/folded up/rolled up? When i serve them i just think why couldn't you have just straightened it out before giving it to me? I always think it's a tiny bit rude but it could just be me?

yes agree

and also pisses me off when i get chnage given to me, and given the note first and coins put on top of note

am i anal?

Pinkjenny · 10/10/2008 15:39

I hate it when people put my change on top of my till receipt because I always drop it when attempting to put it in my purse.

I always smooth out the notes before I hand them over.

stleger · 10/10/2008 15:42

Or notes and coins they have been holding so long they are hot and sweaty!

arthursmum · 10/10/2008 16:18

I used to hate it when people held the note in their mouth then gave it to me. Bleurgh!

LadyOfWaffleIsScaryEnough · 10/10/2008 16:20

I held £20 for the taxi driver in my mouht once Had DS, pram, sling, car seat all in tow though!

LadyOfWaffleIsScaryEnough · 10/10/2008 16:20

mouth

memoo · 10/10/2008 16:22

I hate it when the person serving gives you change on top of a note too! it drives me barmy, feel like throwing it back at them.
The times I have had this done and ended up dropping money all over the floor.

Ripeberry · 10/10/2008 16:26

Oh, you must hate me then. I've got screwed up fivers in my pocket. But i do try to "iron" them out before giving them to the till person

platypussy · 10/10/2008 16:30

Oh I hate this screwing up of notes too! I also have a customer who licks his thumb before counting notes out to me. Another thing is customers holding up others by taking ages raking in their purses/pockets to pay for something in 1p and 2p coins to get rid of them. Why use one coin when forty will do!

arthursmum · 10/10/2008 17:32

Don't worry LadyofWaffle, I'd have been much more disturbed if you had given it to me after you had been holding it in you mouht, how on earth would you hand it over?

BuwchBywiog · 10/10/2008 18:58

I work in a library at an FE college ... get all these manky teens putting their cards in their mouths while they sort out what books and stuff they want! That does make me cringe!

frazzledali · 10/10/2008 21:01

I once had a guy pay for something that cost £3...and he licked every pound coin before putting it in my hand.
It still makes me squirm to think about it.

Shitemum · 10/10/2008 21:04

Is this a special pedants corner for shop-keepers and customers?

I am a shopkeeper and have never understood people who dont uncrumple their notes before handing them over - what if there's another one folded up with it eh? eh?

ScottishMummy · 10/10/2008 21:08

they are screwed up because they have been squashed in my voluminous bag all day

SmudgeyDoodle · 10/10/2008 21:09

I read this thread title and had no idea why people would give you screwed up notes - hadn't thought of money, more like a note "Please can I have a tine of beans"

Wallace · 10/10/2008 21:12

I do hand over crumpled up notes sometimes. Usually when I am holding lots of shopping bags and hanging on to a runaway toddler at the same time - completely impossible to straighten it out!

nappyaddict · 23/10/2008 15:12

are notes on top of coins ok?

LadyPenelope · 23/10/2008 15:15

When I saw the title ... I immediately thought how annoying it is when I get given change with note and then coins on top. When juggling shopping and purse, it's almost impossible to put it in purse without dropping it ... very annoying!

brightongirldownunder · 23/10/2008 15:24

Well I am one of those prats I'm afraid - and I always apologise afterwards. Recently its got worse as DD has started adding things to my wallet. Today I paid for food with a $20 note covered in banana and peppa pig stickers. I did not look before I paid. I am a very bad example..

littleducks · 23/10/2008 15:24

oh dear, i do it all the time...money is money it never bothered me!

nickytwoooohtimes · 23/10/2008 15:25

YANBU
It used to drive me nuts.
Also, warm coins. Bleygh!

nooOOOoonki · 23/10/2008 15:27

I do it I apologise, I try and straighten them out first but will try harder... promise

dillinger · 23/10/2008 15:29

I always get given the crap fivers

brightongirldownunder · 23/10/2008 15:31

It never bothered me when I worked at the till of a club - infact it made my life more interesting. Unfolding the note, removing the creases, making sure it made that nice snapping noise as you pulled it....

The only thing that did piss me off were the people who were deterined to pay the entrance fee in SMALL change (i.e.5 and 10p's). Christ I still can't believe I let them in.
