I have posted this twice but didn't get any replies on parenting board so thought I'd lay myself bare for critisism on here instead

I am so cross with DD, she is 10.

I was just calling to her to come down stairs, she didn't answer so I went to look for her and she wasn't there. In fact she wasn't anywhere!

She had gone out of the house without even asking or telling me and was in her friends house across the road!!

I have just been over there and probably really embarressed her by shouting in front of her friend but I was just so cross.

Feel bad though because she is crying in her bedroom.

Am I over reacting?

No, you are not over-reacting. It is unacceptable for her to go out of the house without asking your permission first. It's a rule. She needs to stick to it. Once she and you have calmed down, try to have a rational discussion about it. Easier said than done at that age! Good luck

No. You are not. you are a parent! child disappearing is terrifying for us! She needs to know she is NEVER to do that again.

Maybe in a bit go and apologise for shouting, but explain how scared you were and that she must NEVER do that again.

And ground her for a bit for sneaking out!

Oh, and don't bother with the Parenting board - this is mumsnet! We aren't looking at the parenting board!
