Everywhere and everyone now refers to children as kids. "Kids Menu" ffs. I hate it. They even said kids on the 10 o clock BBC news the other night.

I hate it.

lol at "Now make sure to offer one to Nanny"

Since the word meant children first we might be guilty of offending goats by suggesting their offspring are as noisy and messy as children.

Yeah I hate it too. Who would do that?

I don't object when it's appropriate. It depends. Back in the days of the Bulger case I really took exception to the victim being continually referred to as a "toddler". It was just so out of place in the context of murder. The equivalent at the other end of the age spectrum would be something like, "Wrinkly battered to death in own home," or "Old codger dies of neglect".

When I used to go to childcare college for my diploma to be a nursery nurse, you wouldn't believe the kerfuffle the teacher made if any of us used the word 'kids'!
