To think that Disney DVDs are ridiculously over priced?

I mean........£25 for a DVD?? What gives?? These days most of them are reasonably priced but when it comes to the Disney ones they seem to be in a category all of their own.

If it helps, some are in Tesco two for one at 15 quid. But yanbu - they are overpriced and so rarely reduced!

elkiedee · 03/10/2008 13:17

They are overpriced very often but even Disney DVDs are worth shopping around for - I've managed to get some for £8-£10:

Is that for a special edition? Is there a cheaper version eg which just includes the film?

Tamarto · 03/10/2008 13:17

Most shops are selling them on 2 for 1 just now.

ohdearwhatamess · 03/10/2008 13:24

Amazon were selling them very cheaply recently (week or so ago). Jungle Book was £5.99, for example.

elkiedee · 03/10/2008 13:26

Amazon's now selling them at £14.98 for two for price of one, although some Amazon sellers have them at much less even with postage.

It was ever thus. Years ago, they only used to release a limited number of Disney videos and it was a really big thing when a disney film was released. You had to snap em up because once they were gone Disney wouldn't release it again for quite a few years.

Woolworths also have a good selection at the moment £15, bogof. I bought Mary Poppins and The Wild today. What are the chances that I can sit with my 5 year old ds and watch Mary Poppins this afternoon? I may be met with utter disdain.

Dragonbutter · 03/10/2008 14:23

i only buy them if they are £8.

Dragonbutter · 03/10/2008 14:23

and some of the box sets look better value.

medogsarebarking · 03/10/2008 14:24

which one is £25? I'd never pay that for anything other than a box set.

Lilyloo · 03/10/2008 14:29

Yes to be fair I was talking about HMV - so that could explain it! Agree the play.com site is usually the best place.

I shouldn't have read this thread - I couldn't resist looking in Woolworths this afternoon and ended up with Mary Poppins and the Aristocats.
