to expect a teacher to listen and act on my wishes.GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Everyone will tell me I'm sure that I am over reacting but ,I just expect her (my DD's teacher)to actually do as I ask and not then come out and show me up in the school ground.
The thing is my DD's class are learning about cooking and they were sent home with a note asking that they take in topping to make pizza.
yesterday i spoke to her TA and said , she does not like pizza or tomatoes, so there would be no point in sending toppings as I cannot abide wasted food.
I was happy for her to bake a bit of the bread base , but otherwise she was not to make one.
My DD was not at all bothered by this, as she hates them.
On picking her up today the teacher came out of the class, right across the playground ,to where we are allowed to wait and presented me with a BLOODY PIZZA.She then wenton to tell me it was not about the eating ,but the making ,as all she wanted them to do was write the recipe out!
I was then told myself or her Dad could eat it, and their hands were very clean ,you know.
FGS, I know its a very little thing to be annoyed about ,but why ask parents if they just want to please their selves.
its like saying "do you mind if I have a fag " and lighting up anyway

why didn't you let her make the pizza?

I agree with the teacher that the making was more important than the eating.

Was the note to ask you to send in toppings or to ask you if your dd wanted to do it?

it's the taking part in the exercise that is the deal here not the toppings.

If your dd didn't like reading or writing would you be demanding she didn't have to do that too?

YABU. My DSs would never actually do any cookery at school if I only allowed them to make things they liked.

YABU - and allowing your daughter to get away with being fussy. Children will often eat something because they have made it themselves, even if they don't normally claim to like it. You should have made your daughter make a pizza AND made her taste just a tiny bit of it - and then eaten it and raved over it yourselves so that she is encouraged to want to cook more.

You know children decide what they like and don't like very subjectively. She could well have decided that she might like pizza because she made it herself. I would definitely think that she should be encouraged to make it and I think the teacher was right to ignore you. Teaching is a job not a service.

My ds is an extremely fussy eater and never eats anything he makes at school, but he thoroughly enjoys taking part and loves nothing more than cracking an egg he thinks its fantastic.

We love trying his creations at home.

I think your attitude sucks tbh.

If your child had a life threatening or serious reaction to the ingredients then maybe YANBU..

But dictating your kid's dietary likes and dislikes to a teacher is really bad form!!

You are training your daughter to become precious and spoilt - plus, the teacher probalbly didn't want the poor thing to feel left out. Feed the fucking thing to the seagulls.

They asked ,could they bring in toppings ,or to let them know if you didn't want them to do it for any reason.
Cod - as I said why ask a question and then ignore the answer.
If my Dd had said that she would still like to make it i would have let her, but she was quite happy not to have to ,as they were supposed to eat it.

Yabu - my dd1 made a pizza in nursery and put lots of different toppings on it at a time when she wouldn't eat any of it(even the base!). She really enjoyed doing it and even tried a tiny bit. Why should a teacher change her lesson to suit your dd's eating habits.

Will you be interfering in every detail of what your child does in class in every subject? And dictating to the teacher what 'your wishes' are?

Of course the process of making was important - and since you didn't send in any toppings in what way were you affected.

You sound unreasonable, and more, tbh! It is a school - the teacher is not a nanny hired by you to do your bidding!

But you are then allowing her to choose what to participate in - like Wannabe says, what if she chooses that she doesn't want to participate in writing, or reading. You are allowing her to feel that school subjects are optional - and I think that is a dreadful attitude to be instilling in her quite honestly.

flossie - when they asked if whether you wanted your children not to take part for any reason, they probably meant real reasons like allergy to the ingredients or possible issues to do with food or food preparation.

Not because a child might not like pizza.

I am not a troll .
I make pizza at home myself for the rest of the family,so she has been encouraged to help make it and try it many times.
I should have known I would be shot down in flames are only certain people allowed to have an opinion?
