to ask my Mum to unpick all the badges off DS's Cub & Scout shirts before she puts them in her charity shop??

My Mum is great at Sewing etc, and moved all DS's badges from one cub sweatshirt to the next when he outgrew one (I didn't ask her, she just did it one weekend whilst babysitting!).

Anyway, within 2 months of getting new shirt, his pack folds & he moved into Scouts early. Got a new Scout shirt, worn a very few times as he injured his back and could not go. After recovery he didn't want to go back.

So, I have 2 almost new uniform tops, and thought I might as well donate them to a charity shop where my Mum works. Would it be cheeky to ask her to remove the badges for me????

Is this not a case of 'could have done it in the time it took to post about it'?

He has loads of badges, all sewn on tightly! I look at them & put them back in wardrobe!

Don't know what to do with the badges when off though! He has all his swimming ones on a towel, but don't think he will want these.

Why not just keep the top then? Taking the badges off won't improve it.

I sewed my daughter's Brownie badge on last night and even though it's wonky, there is no way it's coming off again .

you should unpick them yourself, and then take them to the scout troup as they might be able to offer them to a new scout.

yanbu in removing them, but yabu in asking your mum, do it your self.

I mean taking the shirts to the scout troup, not the badges.

Give the shirts in to the scout troop badges and all, the will reuse the badges and give the tops to someone who needs them.

make cup of tea... take one stitch unpicker, or small pair of sharp scissors... sit down on sofa and unpick whilst watching Super-nanny get cross with Americans or similar. Job done.

All my brownie and guide badges went onto my camp blanket, which I still have, so its nice to keep them.

If you don't want to unpick them, then theres no harm in asking your mum

Keep the shirt...I have my brownie sash and girl guide blouse. Good to know I was once 'Agile' and able to make a cup of tea unaided!

I still have all my badges they are positively antiques now.

You have to unpick very carefully and unless they've been sewn on with a very fine needle I suspect the outline of each badge will be left on the shirt.

I sew (well my mam helps) the girls badges onto a blanket each(just cheapish fleece one) so that they are all together

def blanket. he can take it to camp. i have one with all my brownie stuff etc on lol...
