My dd is meant to be having a sleep over for her 13th on sat night and I have agreed (it being the cheeper option) but it has kicked off tonight as I agreed to 5 girls and after some persuasion this has upped to 6 now she is nagging and nagging that she cant choose six and can she have 8 I live in a two bedroom flat (fgs) it just isnt bigger enough and the thought of the night is already filling me full of dread but its one night and i could have coped, but she is just kicking off crying and shouting that she cant decide and totally ruined the evening, now she says she dosent want one , she is making me feel guilty for not letting her invite more, what if only 3 can make it she will never forgive me, but what if we invite 8 and they all come, at the moment I just want to cancel the whole thing to teach her a lesson

i think you should say 6 or nothing, give her the choice to make a grown up decision. explain your reason for saying no to 8, if she cannot agree to 6 then she is the one that lose out

Yep, tell her she can have six friends, or none - the choice is hers.

You're giving her the chance of having a lovely sleep-over to celebrate her birthday.

Don't allow her to make you feel guilty - you have nothing to feel guilty about.

I know I cant backtrack but she is just going on and on that they all wont make it and its going to end up crap, its just me and dds and I always make a big effort Birthdays, but the thought of all those girls fills me with dread. I know that I have to stick with 6 but at the moment she is sobbing.

The worse thing is dd2 turns 12 two weeks later
