Have you asked her how she will be replacing it?
Tell her she can order a new one direct or send you a cheque or cash the big fatty

SixSpotBurnet · 29/09/2008 10:20

No, you are not being unreasonable at all! What a bizarre thing for an adult to do...

I hope she's going to get your dd a new one.

GordonTheGopher · 29/09/2008 10:21

Sorry I know this isn't supposed to be funny but .

And yes she should pay for it.

poor thing, I bet she is mortified!

Dropdeadfred · 29/09/2008 10:27

has she coughed up?

she probably would have broken it even if she wasn't over weight

chapstickchick · 29/09/2008 10:28

Was she riding it....seriously ???

Yes of course she should pay- is it irreparable??

mamadiva · 29/09/2008 10:28

I know this must be mortifying for your sister but PSML here seriously.

Yeah she should pay for it and then go into hiding LOL, nah just make it into a quick joke then forget about it.

JulesJules · 29/09/2008 10:34

Was she pretending to be a famous showjumper? That is what my sister and I used to do - when we were six

Seriously, bet she is mortified! Of course she must get your dd another one.

(Shame you didn't get pictures...)

Saturn74 · 29/09/2008 10:36

Oh dear.
Surely she offered to replace it or pay for a new one?
If not, you need to ask her when she'll be doing so.

cupsoftea · 29/09/2008 10:37

email her the info on how to replace it

mrsalansugar · 29/09/2008 10:47

She's an adult and shouldn't have sat on it, her weight is immaterial. She should have offered to pay for it to be repaired or replaced, in the absence of this offer your dh should ask her to replace it.

bodybag · 29/09/2008 10:57

well dd wasn't too keen on going on it and she sat on it and started riding it to show dd what to do.

she has also sat on dds wheely bug and gone all over the room on that too

OP posts:
bodybag · 29/09/2008 10:58

she said she thought it would be better quality than that!

OP posts:
Dropdeadfred · 29/09/2008 10:59

is she paying for it or not?..that's the real question

barbiehouse · 29/09/2008 10:59

sounds like she's trying to be a really fun auntie for your dd though, so don't be too harsh!

Majeika · 29/09/2008 10:59

how overweight is she?

poor rocking horse

bodybag · 29/09/2008 11:01

shes a ten ton tess

she has not offered yet, i have not asked yet going to give her chance to offer, if she doesnt them i'll tell her.

sameagain · 29/09/2008 11:06

Would you be so annoyed if it was your sister rather than your SIL? Or a friend visiting you with her DC's? I find the whole in-law thing magnifies the extent of the crime IYSWIM

I've ridden on kids toys before now, to play with them (the DC's), sounds like she was being nice to me, but if it's really irreparably damaged, she should replace/deal with M&P's to have it replaced.

monkeymonkeymonkey · 29/09/2008 11:07

She should pay for replacement/repair for it.
What adult would think a childs rocking horse would support them?

bodybag · 29/09/2008 11:14

an idiot.

it would be the same whoever broke it.

just i know she won't be able to afford to replace it as they are always skint.

I agree with KC. A rocking horse is a thing and your SIL is a person. Get some perspective.

FabioVicePeeperPlopper · 29/09/2008 11:22

If she were v slim and it broke, perhaps it wasn't well made.
The weight issue is relevant, Ithink.

Cappuccino · 29/09/2008 11:24

yes fabio I think you are right

I would think twice about climbing on a rocking horse and I am 12/14

of course weight is an issue, they are made for children. Light, portable little children

if a trim but tall and muscular fireman sat on one and it broke it would still be his fault
