OP posts:
smeeinit · 29/09/2008 20:13

gosh u sound like a really lovely person wish u were my sil !

so your sil was kindly trying to help your dd enjoy her rocking horse and it breaks...not the end of the world its just a toy... and she has offered to replace with a pushalong toy which, lets face it is proberly more suited to your dd's age anyway.
the fact she is overweight shouldnt come into it.

Quattrocento · 29/09/2008 20:14

Would it have been okay if your SIL had been underweight? Or have we done that?

tigermoth · 29/09/2008 20:15

the devil is in the detail - I'd like to know the full story. Did she rock on it knowing it was gradually breaking?

morningpaper · 29/09/2008 20:18

goodness me you DO sound like a misery-guts mummy

I would have thought the sight of my porky Aunty riding around on my ladybug wheeler and galloping on my rocking horse would be treasured memories for years to come

She sounds like a hoot

I would imagine that as she has such a sense of humour it would be ideal material for teasing for the rest of her life, and that would be more than satisfactory recompense for a broken horsey

giddy-up!

NorthernLurker · 29/09/2008 20:26

The value of an aunt interested in your child, able to play with imagination and enthusiasm is far beyond £100 so I think you've got a bargain. Write it up to experience and be glad she loves your dd so much that she has tried to replace the toy with something else even though she is hard up.

Bodybag,

Did'nt you start another dodgy thread recently? Think this is a wind up or you're just a dipstick.

chipmonkey · 29/09/2008 21:29

Nah, bloomingfedup, this is karma at work! Bodybag is being punished for slagging off her workmate who has taken so much ML!

Kewclotter · 29/09/2008 21:48

Methinks there's Mastercard advert lurking in this thread somewhere

Wheelybug for PFB £44.99
Rocking horse for child too young to care: £85 (or £100 if you're trying to impress the neighbours)
Look on sister-in-laws face as you bareback ride said horse bucking-bronco stylee shouing "YEE HAA!" and it collapses to toothpicks: PRICELESS.

Heated · 29/09/2008 21:54

stick a saddle on the labrador, your dd won't notice

smeeinit · 29/09/2008 22:00

Hilarious thread.

Very upset that you don't like the lab, I bought him for my nephew. Your SIL sounds lovely.

onebatmother · 29/09/2008 23:57

lol Kew!

nappyaddict · 30/09/2008 02:05

i have played on a wheelybug and a rocking horse. never thought not to tbh

nappyaddict · 30/09/2008 02:07

i also sat on a handysitt the other day to see if i would fit and my friend insisted on sitting in ds' buggy and having my other friend push her around in it must say i wasn't impressed with that one as it is only a cheapy umbrella one and looked very much under strain.

Wizzska · 30/09/2008 12:26

Could you not have had the presence of mind to video her and send it to You've Been Framed? They love fat birds breaking things on that and you'd have got a healthy profit with your £250. Send her round our house - have always wanted to have a clip for that show. [I will now retreat with shame at the low quality of the tv I've admitted to watching].

Blackduck · 30/09/2008 12:31

KC - lol!

wotulookinat · 30/09/2008 12:40

Once again, I'm agreeing with Bloomingfedup - I think this is a wind-up.
And if it's not, the BodyBag is a pretty lousy sister to have.
Morning Paper is right - the memory of the day Auntie-X broke the rocking horse could be used to have a giggle at the Christmas table for years to come.

Szyslak · 30/09/2008 12:46

This thread is hilarious.

Really has made me laugh.

Particuarly the unwanted gesture of the 'push along labrador' which was linked to for us all to view.

Kew, you have been hilarious in your atempts of supportiveness, 'labrador sounds jolly.'

Szyslak · 30/09/2008 12:48

I have a mamasandpapas rocking horse (don't tell jigsaw), I have never ridden it whilst singing made up songs, or even ride a cock horse.

I am so dull.

I will go and ride it now.

mamadiva · 30/09/2008 12:52

I'd do the same as SIL TBH have a laugh remember what that is body bag? Looks a bit like this

And the lab is so cute BTW at least DD could use and ahem maybe your SIL won't break that. LOL

wotulookinat · 30/09/2008 13:01

In years to come, the kids will say 'Mum, why don't we see Aunt X anymore? She was always such fun!' And the reply will be 'Because she broke your very expensive rocking horse. It was a lovely thing as well.' To which kiddie will reply 'Oh, I don't remember that. I loved that toy lab though!'

donnydarko · 30/09/2008 13:13

was it like a big pile of podge and wood all piled up in the middle of the playroom while dd stands their traumatised and you rushed to her rescue?

if that is the case yanbu

if it isnt, accept the lab graciously and vent your anger on a bean bag. you cant break them so i'm told

and while were on the subject of fat people my ds told me this joke today:

"yo mama so fat her waterbed is the atlantic ocean with a plastic sheet on it"

i thought that was quite funny

onebatmother · 30/09/2008 13:45

lol yo mama so fat she broke the Trojan's horse!
