Am I being unreasonable to want people to stop trying to ruin my wedding...

I've planned the colour scheme really carefully and spent hours looking online for suitable outfits. I've sent out individual e-mails with links to outfits that meet my criteria and would suit that particular person. Now my SIL is complaining that she doesn't like my choices and my friend says she's already bought something!! Am I being ureasonable to expect people to appreciate the effort I've put in and not spoil my special day?

Are they your bridesmaids?

ethanchristopher · 27/09/2008 16:28

tell sil to buy something similar then and ask your friend if it is too late to refund or change?

yanbu but it is an inconvenience if they disike your choices

SugaryBits · 27/09/2008 16:29

No you are not being unreasonable, just uninvite anyone who has the audacity to not buy and wear what you want them to. People can be so selfish can't they!

Carmenere · 27/09/2008 16:29

YABU OR YAATROLL

RubySlippers · 27/09/2008 16:29

oh this is SO similar to a thread a while back

the over whelming consensus was YABU

If this is not a troll then i am AGOG that people get so bridezilla-esque to email what clothes guests should wear

belgo · 27/09/2008 16:29

Are you really expecting to dictate to your guests what they wear to your wedding?

josiemarie · 27/09/2008 16:29

No, they're not my bridesmaids McDreamy, I just want everyone to look nice for the pictures.

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 27/09/2008 16:29

Erm.....is your SIL and friend in the actual "wedding party" (i.e. bridesmaids etc)?? If so then YANBU but if they are simply guests then YABU.

Dictate what you/DH-to-be/bridesmaids/ushers wear, by all means. You can't dictate what other guests wear other than to set a dress code.

RubySlippers · 27/09/2008 16:29

i am going to rummage in the archives

expatinscotland · 27/09/2008 16:30

what lame trolls we've had round these days.

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 27/09/2008 16:31

well josie, you are ABSOLUTELY unreasonable!! Of course they will look nice for the pictures because they are your friends and they will make an effort for you.

Extreme Bridezilla!

RubySlippers · 27/09/2008 16:31

ta da

can we not get a better class of troll these days?

ethanchristopher · 27/09/2008 16:31

did you mean normal guests?????????????

then yabu!!

McDreamy · 27/09/2008 16:31

Then you are being unreasonable. You can't dictate what people wear to your wedding if they're not in the wedding party. Sorry not what you want to hear but that's my opinion.

Concentrate on yourself, your bridesmaids, flowers etc.

RoseOfTheOrient · 27/09/2008 16:32

I just burst out laughing - this is a joke, right?

josiemarie · 27/09/2008 16:32

Well my friend just has really awful taste. I've seen pictures of her at her sister's wedding and TBH she looked ridiculous. I don't trust her to pick an outfit. I'll try to find a picture of something similar online to show you what I mean.
