to fuck my landlords over when I move out

I have lived at my current address since Jan and only took the place because I was desprate and they didn't want a deposit straight away well least they said they didn't and then after two days of being there they were bugging me for the deposit, Anyways one of the landlords is lovely but the other one is a complete twat who has made threats at me, Also came into the flat when he thought I was not there I was sick in bed. They have ripped me off I live in a shit hole flat they never did anything they promised like clean the pissing carpets and I have had a mouse problem since living there. My friend wants me to put fish everywhere in the house and take everything I can carry when I move out as there was no inventory check and I told them to use my deposit as a my last months rent since I knew it would be hell getting that off them.

Would I be unreasonable if I did take everything and not clean the flat also put the fish everywhere or is it what they deserve

2Be - you start some lovely threads don't you? Hope your new bridge flat is nicer.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 23/09/2008 16:26

yep go to your council and they will advise you. id also check with council that your new landlord is okay before you sign anything.

This thread is an object lesson for all landlords not to give tenancies to people without insisting on a deposit.

2beornot2be · 23/09/2008 16:31

well my council would put him on a blacklist and remove his name off their accredited landlords scheme they would also give him notice to have the repairs done to the house and start legal proceedings if he didnt.

they are not allowed to tell prospective tennants that he is a bad landlord but he wont be recommened as a good one and if the repairs arent made he would get a massive fine.

even private landlords have a legal responsibility to their tennants and the state of repiar of their properties.

i dont want to do it while i am living here still as he has entered my property when dh was out against my permission and threatened me in front of my children. i know that this illegal and i could have called the police but atm i just need somewhere to to live while the final repairs on dh's house are being done.

plus i dont know if what he said would be counted as a threat or not so it might just be causing more trouble reporting him. but i am going to report him for the heating and gas safety checks.

lou031205 · 23/09/2008 16:37

Awful language, awful attitude. Totally unreasonable. By the way, if I was your boss, as you were wondering on your other thread, I would be deeply unimpressed.

FabioVicePeeperPlopper · 23/09/2008 16:42

'real estate' is an american term
v unwise to give out your adress on the internet, I'd get it deleted if I were you.

2beornot2be · 23/09/2008 16:51

No one understands how stressful it is to move into somewhere and for the money I was paying to live there to have to deal with all these things and problems I have never had any problems with previous addresses and have always moved out making sure the property was clean to high standard etc when I moved in to this property the landlords knew I needed somewhere ASAP they took advantage of me being by myself and the sitution I was in at the time. They filled me with promises to do this and that and never did and the last 9mths have been hell. I guess to do anything is very unreasonable but anyone thats been in my sitiution would understand why I want to screw them over.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore i am sure you understand what its like.

Yes I have been to a kids thing for birthday parties its ok there but Wacky warehouse in colliers wood is better. The part of Earlsfield I live in is very nice you don't expect to have all these problems.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore i will contact my council about the state of the flat.

they sound horrible
So do you
Don't do it
Learn from it to take more care next time you rent a place, check it and the landlords out properly in advance.

2beornot2be · 23/09/2008 16:59

mrsshackleton I have checked out everything in the new flat everything seems good. I won't do it I am too chicken but just wanted to see what others would say and if it was unreasonable to want to do it.

As you were

gemdangracie · 23/09/2008 17:03

Just to say 2be, that if a tennant has mice at their property then it is the tennants responsibility to sort them out not the landlords (we had this trouble) the only things landlords are supposed to do is Rats and wasps nests. hth.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 23/09/2008 17:03

yes i understand what its like and how stressfull it is. i have given up getting anything done in my house and am just looking forward to moving out.

dh is dying to go to the council but i think that will just cause us more problems.

i totally understand why you would be tempted to do those things, but tbh it wont be worth it and if they are anything like my landlord they would start legal proceedings against you for criminal damage.
