I have lived at my current address since Jan and only took the place because I was desprate and they didn't want a deposit straight away well least they said they didn't and then after two days of being there they were bugging me for the deposit, Anyways one of the landlords is lovely but the other one is a complete twat who has made threats at me, Also came into the flat when he thought I was not there I was sick in bed. They have ripped me off I live in a shit hole flat they never did anything they promised like clean the pissing carpets and I have had a mouse problem since living there. My friend wants me to put fish everywhere in the house and take everything I can carry when I move out as there was no inventory check and I told them to use my deposit as a my last months rent since I knew it would be hell getting that off them.

Would I be unreasonable if I did take everything and not clean the flat also put the fish everywhere or is it what they deserve

If there was no inventory then they can accuse you of stealing all sorts.

Live by the sword etc etc....

FabioVicePeeperPlopper · 23/09/2008 16:12

where do you live?

They told me that they would get it sorted from when I moved in also I had to move in ASAP as I had to move out of my other place so didn't really have a choice and they knew this. I would hate it if some other poor person got roped into living in the nightmare flat.

I must admit I am tempted to screw them over but I won't may just take them to court over the deposit not being in a scheme and go the legal way hmmm

But if she screws them over and trashes the flat they can call the police and tell then that she trashed the flat and stole their tv, video, dvd player etc etc. I wouldn't want to risk that.

But then again, I wouldn't trash someone's flat.

onceinalifetime · 23/09/2008 16:15

"Also they couldnt sue me for taking the stuff as they couldnt prove it was there in the first place."

You don't have to prove you had something in the first place when you report a theft so I don't see this as an argument for stealing.

sitdownpleasegeorge · 23/09/2008 16:16

Oh Lordy ! How other people live is an eye opener at times.

They don't sound like good landlords and you don't sound like a good tenant, a pretty good match.

"F**K them over" if it makes you feel better but please don't come back and moan on MN about how you are being taken to court, not fair etc etc.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 23/09/2008 16:16

are you renting from my landlord?

entering my property without my permission; check
threatening behavior and even outright threats; check
no repairs done to falling apart house; check

im actually improving the house for the next tennants i know it sounds mad but mil lives on this street and i dont want the tennants thinking that we have made the property this way which is what we were led to believe.

i wouldnt leave fish anywhere. just rise above it. i can understand why you would want to though. i am going to report my landlord to the council for failing to provide suitable heating and not getting the gas fire checked every 12 months. oh so sorry he did have the gas fire checked his plumber walked past it and glanced at it

id rather report him to the boys as dh keeps threatening but i am not a violent person.

MarlaSinger I did not see my landlords the day I moved in only noticed the mice after a week of being there spoke to my neighbours who said that its been an ongoing problem in the flat spoke to my landlord who ignored me until I told him I couldnt live there with mice then he brought some crap posion that never worked and I have had to try and deal with it.

The only reason I moved in there when I did was because I needed somewhere to live ASAP and this was the best I could get.

I live in Wandsworth in London.

I have now found a 3 bedroom flat that is ten times cheaper nicer and the Landlord seems very professional I am moving on Sunday and its only because my friend told me to do these things that it even crossed my mind.

No you wouldn't, you wouldn't care - you've just proposed making the flat even more uninhabitable.

"I must admit I am tempted to screw them over but I won't may just take them to court over the deposit not being in a scheme and go the legal way hmmm"

No, you won't. Sorry but you're just backtracking now.

Anyway, good luck in your new flat and forget the old one.

pagwatch · 23/09/2008 16:20

then tell your friend not to be a twat and just move out as you apparently intended.

MS I have tried everything to get rid of the mice its not really my problem to sort it out my Landlords should sort it,

I am just going to move out and forget about it but is there anywhere you can report this kinda of thing???

I know that my landlords are abit dodgy they advertised in an estate agents and on gumtree
but when I went to view the property they said they would rather do it private and not thru an estate agents which of course keeps there costs down but when you have constant problems with landlords what are you supposed to do?
