live in social housing.
there are 2 now.
haven't people got anything better to do, than to slag other people of and judge then,
I live in a HA because there is no other type of housing that we can get, that has the disabled access we need. and we have a lovely van.
why do people judge others when they know fuck all about their circs???????????????????????

YANBU! It's really peed me off, in case you haven't noticed my posts!

I know very well how much money is ploughed into asset management (repairs, maintenance, 2010 etc) and ASB at my HA. I know the staff at the HA very well and know how a lot of it works, yes I do use my knowledge to my advantage, but I also know that even without it things get taken seriously and dealt with. I know the demographics show that we're not all unemployed layabouts, in fact I know that for most estates there are strict criteria of who can live there. I was told on my last estate the only reason I wasn't being chased about being in work or education was because I was so busy working for the Resident's. My estate is in a nice area with a few famous ex-residents (think chocolate and remember I'm from Birmingham ) even on the estate there are some very nice cars parked outside.

HA's provide nice accommodation for people who can't or don't want to buy houses and I'd rather be in HA accommodation than council or private rentals.

Mumsnet is awash with judgements of all typoes - look at the threads judging people who send children to independenct schools - many more than two therads on THAT. I have lived in rented, council and owner occupied accommodation and ahd good and bad neighbours in both. We currently live in a very upmarket neighbourhood, and our neighbours are sadly the evillest people I have encountered - DS2's ball went over the fence ( ONCE IN 10 YEARS!!!) and they were really arsey about it - to him - unbelievable. When we lived on a council estate people were always coming eound to tell me I had left my car lights on, keys in door etc - ie - proper neighbours... WHo are these people judging council estates - please name and shame so we can tell em like it is???

TinkerBellesMum · 22/09/2008 18:31

I think what a lot of people don't realise is that the law has changed, HA's now have a standard to live up to and can be in serious trouble if they don't. Times have changed.

saint2shoes · 22/09/2008 18:37

of course you get shitty people(see my thread about hiring a hitman) but not everyone is like that. there are a couple of shitty familys near me, but the rest are just normal people, some I like some I don;t.
there is one really rough looking family(and I mean ruff) but I have to say they have always been really nice to me, the son who is 11, see's me and asks how dd is.

Twiglett · 22/09/2008 18:41

"Mumsnet is awash with judgements of all typoes"

you can say that again , only in Pedants' Corner we'd lose the superfluous 'e' and truly be awash with judgements of all typos

2shoes .. may I 'ave a word about your title?

Twiglett · 22/09/2008 19:05

I am still too enraptured by the fact that you have a lovely van to actually read the thread

saint2shoes · 22/09/2008 19:06

I have now turned the light on so I can see the keyboard.

nickytwotimes · 22/09/2008 19:06

YANBU, 2shoes
I was about that thread last night.

laweaselmys · 22/09/2008 19:11

I leave in privately rented accommodation but surrounded by three council owned and run estates, they are absolutely lovely neighbours and I could never have a bad word about them. Before we moved in my mum kept going on about how loud it would be with everyone coming back from the clubs and prostitutes!! (wtf??) It was just wankerish bias on her part. I'm glad she's been utterly proved wrong.

Got no idea what some people's problem is.

mrsruffallo · 22/09/2008 19:14

What thread last night?
Did I miss something
MN makes me so glad I am me

I live in a house I bought with my dp while prices were blinkin high...I so regret I was well sort of a snob as I would have such a better blinkin quality of life now if I had had looked at the ha...Both of us work full time in professional jobs and simply cant afford the small pleasures in life due to the cost of mortgages at the moment.

ScottishMummy · 22/09/2008 19:39

pedants corner!aye they are scary drooling mistake seeking mamas- they judge and

too daunting for me

gie them a wide berth

avenanap · 22/09/2008 19:46

The Barratt thread annoyed me to. Assuming that people who live in council houses would make her life hell.

saint2shoes · 22/09/2008 21:10

she did apologise, but by then the normal snobby few had posted.
