To want to brush this girls hair ?

There is a little girl at dd's school (reception class), she has lovely blonde hair but her mum does'nt brush it, this morning it looked like she had dreds, it upsets me that her mother can send her to school looking like she's been dragged through a hedge.

I know they don't like having there hair brushed but i always send dd in looking tidy.

I just feel like taking a brush to her (i would'nt)

deste-are you suggesting she should do that to someone elses dc hair?

Pawslikepaddington · 17/09/2008 21:46

deste-how much hair gel? Dd has horrid pulled through hedge hair (as do I, but I can spend time on mine so it looks normal, dd gives me all of three mins!) but it is so thin even conditioner makes it look lank. Would hair gel make it look gross?

nappyaddict · 17/09/2008 22:05

spray in conditioner and spray gel are fab for fine hair.

Pawslikepaddington · 17/09/2008 22:08

Oooh thank you. Shoes, clothes, coat, socks, face, hands etc are always spotless, and then this hair just comes out of nowhere!! xx

nappyaddict · 17/09/2008 22:11

a volumising shampoo and volumising mousse will make it look less lank too.

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 17/09/2008 22:23

is her hair like my dd1's?

it looks okay there having just got her out of the bath but it tangles easily due to it being really fine and she often ends up looking dreadlocked. because its so long and she wont have it tied back she often gets food in it too.

we now have a tangle teaser and it works great on getting out all the knots without the tears but if she doesnt have a bobble in within half an hour she looks like a child from oliver twist again. it doesnt help that she digs for worms in the mud.

Pawslikepaddington · 17/09/2008 22:33

Ha ha, we have a tangle tamer too! Bobbles never seem to stay in for long-the pile of lost clips/bobbles at school are invariably 95% ours! She's also started sucking/chewing it since starting school, so it all welds itself together. I am so glad we are not alone in our messy haired children! !

nappyaddict · 17/09/2008 22:35

the tangle tamer is that purple funny looking thing isn't it?

Pawslikepaddington · 17/09/2008 22:41

Nah, it's basically a pink denman hairbrush, but shocking pink, and as it says tangle tamer dd thinks it hurts less than other brushes! What do you use if it isn't the same as ours? (I imagined it was!) Saw a weird thing at the pool yesterday that was like a paddle brush with no handle-like a square horse brush!

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 17/09/2008 22:44

i use the one that looks like a horse brush. dd1 says its magic and she doesnt have to be physically held down any longer to be brushed. which is handy.

it seems to get the tangles out with less effort too. its this one

Pawslikepaddington · 17/09/2008 22:49

yes! Yes! That's what I have been looking for! I want it NOW!!!!! I want a tidy goddess of a child, and this is my path to perfection-yes!!!! Seashells is the best!

Pawslikepaddington · 17/09/2008 22:50

Sorry, slight over-reaction there, but the woman at the pool who had one had the perfect family, so therefore if I copy her hairbrush we will be the perfect family!!

nappyaddict · 17/09/2008 22:50

i thought you meant this

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 17/09/2008 22:55

plp it will work and she will look tidy untill.............she walks outside!!!!

you could do what i do and cary it around in your bag to give her a quick brush before she gets to where you are meant to going

Anifrangapani · 17/09/2008 22:55

My dd has her hair brushed every morning, but by the time she gets to school it is all tangled again. Some days it looks greasy from all the conditioner. Blonde hair tends to be very fine and flyaway. It tangles very easily. Except for her being in Year 2 you could be talking about my daughter. Prehaps I should brush her hair when we get to school to stop the school gate gaggle judging her family life.

Pawslikepaddington · 17/09/2008 22:59

Oooh yeah shall we all do that? Shall we all brush our children's hair at the gate and prove that we care about their hair welfare? He he! Nappyaddict-when I opened that link i thought it was a mad scary contraption for ladies pleasure until I read the text !

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 17/09/2008 23:00

Anifrangapani i have a strong suspicsion she is talking about me and my dd1.

she is clean and tidy when we set off honestly. and dd2s socks are not yesterdays socks but she likes to chew her feet even if she has got a mouthfull of banana/flapjack/yoghurt. though i do wash my own hair and dd is not shy. or miserable looking.

Pawslikepaddington · 17/09/2008 23:04

It could be me bar I don't have a dd2. It makes you wonder what the people at the gates say about you though doesn't it!

Pawslikepaddington · 17/09/2008 23:08

Oooh, just bought the horse brush and got £10 back (I got some posh shampoo and conditioner for her too as my paranoia about school rumours re nits is now ruling my life!)

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 17/09/2008 23:10

unfortunately for me dd1 is the same everywhere i go. i could have sworn that dancing outfit was clean when i put it on her. and i only left the room to go the loo. i have no idea where she got her hands on chocolate milk or whatever was down the front of her leotard.

im also fairly sure she had a bun in when i left her as opposed to a bunch of knots on the top of her head

perhaps i should carry spare clothes and socks aswell as a hairbrush? just to be sure no one feels the need to call ss

i have given up worrying what people think now. i have ferral children. my children enjoy being ferral.

Anifrangapani · 17/09/2008 23:13

Mine are feral as well

glitterball · 17/09/2008 23:13

my hairs always been very tangly & knotty. i used to cry most days when it was brushed as a child. as it always looked a mess - and to stop it tangling as much, it was kept very long & plaited at ALL times. i was allowed to wear it 'down' for birthday parties & special occasions only had it been shorter, or left unplaited more often, am sure it would have been like this little girls!

i still dont like to brush it even now. i can just about force a very wide toothed comb though it once a week which i have to otherwise it develops little dreadlocks . however thanks to careful use of various styling products it now generally looks like a cascade of curls rather than a frizz ball (except for 1st thing in the morning!)
