expat - So none of these 'virgins' who had HPV/cervical cancer actually had hymens?
Sure, it is theoretically possible, but when was a virgin (a real one, not someone who has been prodded with various things as you suggest) diagnosed with cervical cancer?
I wasn't examining them, and it wasn't among the doctors to discuss the patients in such a fashion.
Possible for them to get abnormal cells on the cervix, I suppose, as I do find it really confusing how poor Jade had SO many smears and tests but her cancer wasn't detected until it became invasive uterine cancer.
That's quite rare in someone who has been having tests, IIRC.
Again, I think the NHS changed its guidelines recently, even in light of the average age at which girls do report having first sexual intercourse is declining.
Another salient point brought up by a GP on this board is how only girls are being offered the HPV jab, but boys can a) statistically transmit it to more people, male and female b) it is responsible for anal cancer in men who are gay, bi-sexual or have a bi-sexual experience.
Again, not knowing if Jade does in fact have HPV at all.
