ok, so a woman just rang for my DH, all chatty and friendly like.........................

and speaks as tho she knows him well.

so I am all , and asking very guardedly who it might be.

"oh, just the lady who won him on the auction and now owns him"

yes, I am aware that my husband was auctioned, it was an auction I arranged and planned to raise money for my children dance school (and we raised over £1000 in the end, dead chuffed me), but to tell me, his wife, that she now owns him.....

I feel a little

she was a guest, so not another mum from the school (and so not someone I talk to), so not one that I am friendly and bouncy with, so her being like that was a little odd IMO.

and

it was for DH to go do building work. he is a bricklayer by trade, but can do other stuff, and there was another dad with DH who is going to also work with him, the other dad is not a bricklayer, but can do most stuff. not sure if he is actually qualified for anything, but that is neither her nor there really......rambling now

point is, I was not overly impressed that a strange woman calls me, and when I identify myself as his wife as he is not there (ie, leave a message), she then claims 'ownership'.

thing is tho AIBU to feel a little , or was it really just a bit of fun and I have taken it wrong.

I do not want to get stroppy in case I run into her and the strop was my issues and nothing else IYGWIM.

Do you think she was drunk?

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 13/09/2008 11:46

YABU

mumblechum · 13/09/2008 11:46

She was probably just trying to be friendly but overstepped the mark a bit.

I'd let it wash over me in your place.

superpsychofabioslayersfriend · 13/09/2008 11:47

I would take it with a pinch of salt tbh

OneLieIn · 13/09/2008 11:47

Honestly have a laugh about it and relax!

SuperPsychoFabioSlayer · 13/09/2008 11:48

at this time of day???

maybe I guess, but I would hope not!!!

she probably is just like this and I have taken it all wrong havent; I.

if it were an auction where by we bid for men or women to do fun stuff for us, I could kind of 'get it', (maybe), but for brickwork......

YABU
She was joking.
I really don't think that she is going to apply for legal ownership

zippitippitoes · 13/09/2008 11:49

she was having a laugh

auctioning yourself is fun isnt it so you would expect some jokey stuff

and that sounds extremely mild

yabu

unknownrebelbang · 13/09/2008 11:49

Sorry, but your post has made me laugh.

squeaver · 13/09/2008 11:49

Actually she's probably just one of those OTT people and that's the way she is when speaking to the butcher, the supermarket till person etc.

Annoying but hey ho.

SuperPsychoFabioSlayer · 13/09/2008 11:50

see, if she had rung last night when we were both in, and I was more relaxed, than I probably would have just laughed it all off.

but this morning.....

DH is at work building extension for friend, boys are louder than ever, and I drank probably a bit too much last night and so am fragile....

thats it isn;t it, I am fragile and have taken it all the wrong way.

arghhhhhhhh

BreeVanderCampLGJ · 13/09/2008 11:50
