please do not let the fact that you hate/love Big Brother cloud your judgement.

right ok i will try and keep this as brief as poss.

All week i have been telling DH that i am looking forward to the final tonight and that please can we watch it even though he is not normally interested. He was absolutley fine about it.

anyway MIL (also not a fan of BB) is staying for the week.
i was upstairs getting changed this evening and DH popped his head round door to ask if i was interested in watching a film with them that he had recorded on Sky +.

I said don't forget about my programmes that I want to watch and he said well i can record the final for you and you can watch it later or tomorrow.

clearly not happy about it but they have gone ahead and are watching the film anyway.

feel really gutted was looking forward to it all week and now i am waiting for the film to finish that they could watch anytime as its a recorded one.

perhaps it's the principle that is getting to me here - i feel as though what i wanted is not important and my feelings have been pushed to one side as not important.

right ok - verdict please...

additional info that might be necessary for you to make an informed decision...

i am 34 weeks pregnant and hormonal

oh no, you shoudl be allowed to watch final, a recording just isnt the same thing!!!

DisasterArea · 05/09/2008 20:26

bollox. i'd make em all go to bed early or sit itn the kitchen out the way somewhere.

Flamesparrow · 05/09/2008 20:26

YANBU

Imo obv.

I hate BB, but you had booked the tv in advance.

SlartyBartFast · 05/09/2008 20:26

why didnt you put your foot down at the time??

Carmenere · 05/09/2008 20:27

This is why you need two tv's.

CatIsSleepy · 05/09/2008 20:27

aw
it's a bit mean of them I reckon

Elmosgirl · 05/09/2008 20:27

Well if it were me i'd have been annoyed too but would have just left them to their film and watched the final on the TV in my bedroom.

I guess that only works if you have another TV.

hecate · 05/09/2008 20:28

Your mil hates it. Guests wishes come first. That's the rule

SlartyBartFast · 05/09/2008 20:29

have you been watching it all this time?

psychomum5 · 05/09/2008 20:29

pregnant woman always wins.

regardless

noonki · 05/09/2008 20:31

I hate BB but YANBU

at 34 weeks you should get whatever you want,

go and sit on them

tellmehonestly · 05/09/2008 20:33

we have one tv only

suppose i was a bit shocked when he asked to watch the film.

i am a bit of a wimp when it comes to confrontation with MIL.

OP posts:
tellmehonestly · 05/09/2008 20:35

been watching it from the beginning.

i record it every night so DH does not have to watch it - thought that was a bit unfair to make him watch it every night for 3 months

  • although i do sit through countless footy matches
OP posts:
SlartyBartFast · 05/09/2008 20:36

when is mil going?

tellmehonestly · 05/09/2008 20:38

Tuesday

DoubleBluff · 05/09/2008 20:39

If 2 people dont want to wwatch BB and one does, majority rules IMO!

Anna8888 · 05/09/2008 20:39

I don't think you ought to get as involved as this in any TV show.

Step back a little

LoveMyGirls · 05/09/2008 20:39

The next tiem there is a footy match make sure you record it and put somethign else you've recorded on instead. He's been an arse but then he'd have to stand up to his mum and men don't tend to do that, they'd much rather a row with their wife.

poissonfou · 05/09/2008 20:39

hate bb tbh however i am presently sitting here while my dp watches it....it is the fianal !!
yanbu preggers or not

ClairePO · 05/09/2008 20:39

YANBU, they should have let you watch it because you expressed such a preference to see it and said in advance.

tellmehonestly · 05/09/2008 20:42

calming down a bit now - some of your posts have made me giggle

LOL at the thought of me going in there and sitting on them

OP posts:
suey2 · 05/09/2008 20:42

YANBU- you got dibs. And PG- surely 'oh, i'm really tired, can i watch bb and you finish watching the film tomorrow' would be only fair?

Dropdeadfred · 05/09/2008 20:44

TBH I do think if you have a guest they shouldn't be made to watch shite like BB if they wouldn't normally....

nowirehangers · 05/09/2008 20:56

possibly you should be polite and let your mil watch a film
But I totally sympathise - if you're looking forward to the final of something it's a big deal, esp if you are heavily pregnant! I was furious when bil was staying on the night of the final of the apprentice and sat next to me making sarcasic comments about it, totally destroying my enjoyment. So on balance yanbu!

ChukkyPig · 05/09/2008 20:57

Hmmm.

Retaliate by being extremely posh.

If you have people staying it is surely not right to all sit and watch TV.

Suggest charades, monopoly. Everyone has to sing a song. Maybe pictionary later. Think xmas.

Consider poetry readings and some type of country dancing. Play "consequences".

I guarantee she won't be back! Then you can watch what you like
